I’ve been to this location a few times. I work nearby and visit when I want a decent sandwich. They have a pretty good menu to choose from and even have the option to make your own sandwich. Boarshead meat is used for the cold cuts, which is great quality. The only downside is that the restaurant is smaller. It gets pretty crowded around lunch time. I try to go before noon or after 1 to avoid the crowd. I wish there was more seating so I could sit and enjoy my food.

Small portions. Expensive. Rude staff. Not impressed at all. Asked if they carried a particular Boars Head product(they sell many) and the staff member looked at me like i had birds on my head. I was rushed when there weren’t any other customers. The Ruben sandwich was flat, small and soggy. And costed over $ 7. And parking is a hassle. Never again.

Since the closing of Pickle Deli, there had been an oppportunity in Windsor for a deli/sandwich shop to come in and fill the gap. Whole Deli has done that. I’ve had both breakfast and lunch offerings from Whole Deli, and each was solid. The meat offerings include Boars Head deli meats, along with offerings like steak and chicken cutlet. You can have the sandwich on a variety of breads, with the usual offerings of toppings. My preferences are the steak, egg and cheese for breakfast, and either the steak sandwich or chicken salad for lunch. Everything is fresh, and the price is on par with other sandwich shops in the area. They are open until 7 some days, so they’re also an option for a quick and easy dinner. Overall I recommend Whole Deli if you’re in Windsor and want a good sandwich.

The best deli in CT!!! When I moved from NY it took me forever to find a deli that I loved but once I found whole deli I’ve been hooked! The customer service is really good & the place is very clean. Although it is a little pricy the food is worth the money. My favorite is the turkey sandwich on a hard roll

This is really a top notch deli. First and foremost — the meats and cheeses are all Boar’s Head which is awesome. They also have a respectable variety — I was able to get Chipotle Gouda on my sandwich(score!). The sandwich menu has a good variety and had some inspired combinations. They also had a good array of toppings for the sandwiches. Nothing worse than a deli that skimps on toppings! Our sandwiches were quickly made and were terrific. They also had a rather diverse drink selection — its rare I can find a Bai5 so I was rather pleased that they had several flavors available. The staff were also extremely friendly. Overall — great experience, looking forward to going back.

BESTDELIEVER. I stopped by here on my way to the airport for a quick breakfast sammie for the plane. Small, comfortable place. Out comes a thirtysomething from the back… says hello… looks a bit like Short Run from the Temple of Doom Indiana Jones movie. My guess is he’s the owner. You’ll see why in a minute. Nice guy, too. I pick a «Steak, Egg & Cheese» on a hard roll, lightly toasted. He goes to work. My steak is the«cheesesteak» kind. He gets my egg going and then drops the slivers of steak on the grill. This guy is METICULOUS. He’s a cross between a surgeon and an artist… you can just tell he’s proud of his craft. He works that steak like it’s the cure for cancer, but it’s also been commissioned by the pope to hang in the vatican. I just know that this breakfast sandwich will bring me closer to Mecca. When he’s finished(which is very quickly, I might add…) he quotes the price and I reach for my credit card. As I hand it to him, he takes it with TWO hands, and slightly bows. He respects this transaction. I respect this transaction. I slightly bow back, and smile… feeling that an age-old American tradition of deli patronage has just been elevated. Later, I get on the plane. It takes off. I open up my sandwich that is still warm, because of his careful wrapping in foil. I take a bite. I swear I can hear a faint harp in the distance. What the hell? Oh, that was just my taste buds letting me know they approve of this sandwich. In fact, it’s the best damn breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Thank you, sir. My life is enriched.

Love this place! Super friendly and extremely clean! The food is out of this world. It’s a little pricy but worth every penny and I think the portions are huge! I always have a half sandwich left over no matter what I order.

I can never say enough about the Whole Deli(both in Rocky Hill and Windsor)… Same owners and they are superbly nice. Roy, who used to run Rocky Hill is now based solely out of the Windsor location. They are across the street from the Price Chopper Plaza in a smaller plaza, next to Dunkin’. Sandwiches are always stellar as they use fresh sliced Boar’s Head. I’ve gotten everything from a simple sandwich to a panini to a Reuben. All delicious. Average price is about $ 6 for a sandwich but please keep in mind you are supporting a local business, portions are a decent size and everything is fresh and freshly prepared(including all the sides you can get with your sandwich) Big fan of all the dill they use in their pasta and potato salads! Worth patronizing, especially because Subway is right across the street and comes nowhere close to what they do here. It gets busy around lunch but you can call your order in or fax one over as well. Plenty of seating inside as well as fresh breakfasts(which are also yummy).

Enjoyed lunch here many times as it’s very close to my work. Staff has always been very friendly and they have a nice selection of boars head meat/cheese. Lots of sammies to choose from or customize your own

Located right off I-91 in a small shopping plaza that also houses a DD and dry cleaners, Whole Deli has become one of the monthly luncheon spots for my brother and I. They have a very friendly staff, a very extensive menu of salads, grinders and panini’s, which I will admit was a bit overwhelming the first time I ate here. Whole Deli also prepares all their sandwiches with Boar’s Head products, which to me is a sign that they take quality seriously. In addition they have a case of side salads and in the winter several soup choices are offered. Although most customers I have seen past through take there orders«to go», Whole Deli does have a small dining area if your are so inclined to «dine in». Service is fast and the food is fresh. Definitely a place to get a quick bite if you are in the area.

As satisfying as their sandwiches are, I cannot get myself to give them anything higher than two stars. Both their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are extremely brilliant! Fresh & immensely flavorful. The problem with this deli is for a few small sandwiches it was a bit pricy. I am not one to care about price but when you charge $ 8-$ 10 for a tiny sandwich somethings got to give. Service is very slow. I have given a second, third, & tenth chance at changing my impression but each time it is slower and slower. 25 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. 45 minutes for a cold cut sandwich for lunch. How much longer is it going to take? This is a professional business and a miserable lunch lady can make a quicker sandwich.

Would have rated higher if my veggie sub didn’t end up a soggy mess. Stopped on the way to the airport. My sandwich started leaking through the paper bag due to too much dressing poured inside. It was tasty but didn’t look so hot after transport to airport. My husband however really liked his sub.

Great little lunch spot. The meat and veggies are extremely fresh and high quality(all Boars Head meat). Everything made to order. This area seriously lacks decent lunch spots so I’m so glad I found this place! Will be back soon!

Well I know not to listen to anyone’s reviews that gave this place more than three stars. Saying this deli is average is being kind. Ordered the Reuben and a panini. Reuben was dry, cheese was not fully melted. Blah! Panini was soggy and doused in some horrific honey musters dressing that was completely watered down from over ripe tomato. Day hill deli and Zocos are right up the street if you want a good sandwich. In fact, subway is on the same block and does a better sandwich. Not to mention it want cost 25 bucks for two people to eat. Ill just review the food we won’t even touch on the terrible setting and décor. Buyer beware!!!

This place is a full deli and has a really good selection of sandwiches to choose from. I had the Marilyn Monroe and my husband had the chipotle chicken sandwich. Both were great! We’ll be back again.

Way too expensive. We got 2 hard roll sandwiches(an Italian combo and a turkey) and paid $ 15.15. The ingredients were fresh(Boars Head and good vegetables) and there’s a nice choice of sauces but that was it. Sandwiches range from $ 6.95 to $ 10. No chips or ides included. If we’d each had chips and a drink, we could have spent $ 25! No way!

Located in the Dunkin Donuts plaza across the street from Price Chopper/Buffalo Wild Wings, Whole Deli just opened up in the old space occupied by Gabriel’s Giant Grinders. I had lunch here today, and it was quite an enjoyable experience. The interior is freshly painted with wood accent panels and small colorful paintings –quite a step up from Gabriels super drab run-down look. Whole Deli sells nine«Specialties» –basically sandwich combos for around $ 7 to $ 10, sixteen basic sandwiches for $ 6 to $ 8, six paninis for $ 7 to $ 8. Add in six hot grinders, breakfast sandwiches, and salads, and you have quite a nice ambitious menu. I had a salad with turkey and it was stellar– crisp veggies and a healthy portion of super fresh boars head turkey. A salad and a can of pop ran me around $ 7. The young lady who took my order was super nice, friendly, courteous and efficient. All in all, its nice to have another dependable place nearby for lunch.
