Fratelli’s Italian Steakhouse is a breath of fresh air for Italian cuisine in this area! It’s a nicer dining experience than most Italian restaurants around, but don’t let that stop you from making it a date night dining stop! It’s old school Italian steakhouse vibe with the lower lighting, dark wood, nicer dressed servers, bottle service, and a no rush throughout your dining experience! The food matches the vibe as well! The salads are nicer in quality than your typical family Italian spot, with their take on a Caesar being my favorite! I wasn’t blown away by any of the apps that I tried, but the calamari wasn’t awful either. The Spaghetti Carbonara was absolutely the best I’ve ever had! It was really rich with the heavy cream sauce, salty with the ham, but balanced nicely with my addition of Blackened Shrimp! The addition of the shrimp was questionable at first, but I wasn’t disappointed once I tasted the quality and saw the quantity! The Surf n Turf was the other entrée sampled this evening, and might I say it was perfectly prepared! The Filet was perfectly delivered at medium rare temperature, and the Scallops were nicely sized with a nice brown color! Fratelli’s is not going to be your weekly stop for Italian due to the price and experience, but the prices for the experience make it extremely fair!

We had high expectations for Fratelli’s, which always seems to have a full parking lot, but were very disappointed with our first(and probably only visit). For our 10-yo, we ordered the chicken marsala with parmesan-blistered corn. The mushrooms in the sauce were cold, raw and dry — OK for a fresh garden salad but way undercooked for this dish. The potatoes were flavorless and begging for some garlic, butter or seasoning. And the corn had obviously been frozen, making it soft and mushy rather than crisp. All around, a terrible meal; we couldn’t get our son to take more than one bite of each food, and each new item was a new disappointment. After each one of his bites, he offered a bite to us(which he would never do with a good meal) just to prove it was as bad as he claimed. We ordered two appetizers/sides — the seared beef and the brussel sprouts. The beef was overcooked and chewy, and came served in a pool of Fratelli’s steak sauce, which tastes very much like A1. Not the sauce you want pooled under your meat, especially if it’s seasoned and cooked well. The brussel sprouts were supposed to be roasted with apple and bacon, but seemed more steamed and mushy — with the awful consistency of boiled cabbage. Bacon or not, one bite was enough. We also ordered a beef and onion pizza, which professed to be made with seasoned beef. Seasoned with what, we could not guess, because it was one of the most flavorless pizzas we have ever had. It’s hard to mess up pizza, but we had to drown it in chili flakes just to get some flavor! Service was friendly and attentive, from hostess to waiters, but the prices were way too high for the mediocre food we received. We will will not return — our taste buds deserve far better!

Perfect for a nice date night! We came here for our anniversary and it was delicious. I actually found out my favorite champagne at this restaurant!(Chandon…so good) Their bread was also delicious here, I could eat a whole loaf! The steak wasn’t the best that I have had in Winston-Salem but my boyfriend thought it was. It was still delicious though! The waiters are also very friendly here. We also got to sit in the best seat in the house, next to the warm fireplace on a chilly night so it was perfect.

Fratelli’s is as good as it gets. The atmosphere and the personality of the staff is enough to keep me coming back but the food is, in my opinion, absolutely delicious and never disappoints. This is a very special place that Winston-Salem is lucky to have!

I’m disappointed. This place started out with a bang, but now it’s more of a whimper. The first time I came here it was a steakhouse(offering dry-aged beef at a premium, as I recall) with a smattering of Italian dishes. On my most recent visit, it has devolved into a ridiculously overpriced Italian restaurant with a smattering of steak selections(in a tiny window off to the side of their limited menu). And the portion sizes are ludicrous. If I had actually enjoyed my $ 30.00 bowl of lobster pasta, I could have snacked on it for a week and a half. As it turned out, I picked at it and ended up tossing the leftovers two days later. I’d probably come here before I’d venture to The Outback for dinner, but that’s not a ringing endorsement. And did I mention this place is way overpriced?

Everything was average. Not that impressed. Don’t get the house salad, it’s not hearty stall. If you’re into a lot of cheese and white iceberg lettuce this salad is for you. The cheese risotto rice is gross too, it had a bitter taste. I ordered side spinach thinking it would be sautéed and plain and it was covered in white sauce. Not my thing tho.

I not know what was going on. The waiter was rude to me. and the other waiters rude to me. Talk back rude, rush to get rid of me, said not want to write down order and not the job, i not order ice in the drinks and got ¾ ice in it. The hamburger was raw and not cooked medium. waiter would rush to get rid of me. and not volunteer to come back. I got a free beverage. Waiter also yelled at me. spoke to management. have not been back yet. The tables of two or more got good service. I requested compensation. The plate was full of food. It was average. I checked the bill. and it was accurate. And the waiter got angry not a tip

I was so disappointed. Seated us next to a service kitchen in the back. Refusing this table, was seated at a better table. The food came after a very long wait. My steak was overdone. Dressing on the side(main course) was poured all over the salad. Service was abrupt. For the money there are better choices in Winston.

Nice place but service is lacking. Dinner took a very long time. There was an issue with our wine. To make up for it, they offered dessert. When we got home I noticed they had charged us for the dessert. Food was mediocre tonight.

One of the best restaurants in town. The waitstaff is always accommodating and even if something isn’t perfect they make it right.(Things like the kids got penne instead of spaghetti — its all a noodle unless you’re 2&5.) My one complaint here is that I would rather not pay $ 32 for a HUGE plate of pasta that I end up eating from 5 times at home before I finally throw it away. I would rather order a half plate for $ 20 and only eat it two-three times. You can’t go wrong w/anything on the menu that I’ve tasted so far and we’ve been there 4 – 5 times now.

Recently returned here and was initially really excited about our dinner since it has been quite awhile since our last experience. I noticed immediately upon sitting down that the menu had changed… and not for the better. First, I struggled even reading the new menu, since the white text was over a black background. The whole group of 8 of us agreed that it looked tacky/cheap and was difficult to read. Once I got to scanning the items, I noticed all my previous fav items disappeared! No more linguini fradiovla, grouper or even caramelized gnocchi! Oh no! I read through the menu again and failed to find anything that appealed to me. Everything sounded super rich and laden with butter and cheese. I realize I was at a steakhouse, but that doesn’t mean everything on the menu has to be horrible for you. I settled on the Greek salad and added shrimp. It was fine, but not worth $ 16. My husband ordered the seafood pasta, but instead of the butter-based sauce, requested pesto. The crab cake which came with the pasta was tasty. However, the noodles were watery for some unknown reason and it was severely under seasoned. The caramelized gnocchi was replaced with with gnocchi mac and cheese. We ordered it as a side and it was delicious, but super rich and I much prefer the original preparation. Also, we sat outside, which in hindsight was a mistake. There is no breeze and it was way too warm. Plus, the atmosphere of the patio is on par with outdoor seating at Pizza Hut. Our service, as in the past, was delightful. Haven’t written this place off entirely, just sticking them to the side for a bit in hopes that they improve their menu.

The food is very delicious. I love the Fratelli’s salad and the bread is to die for. Not sure what’s going on, though. They’ve taken their best waiter off the floor and have him bussing tables. Dennis is the best waiter they have. So many of the others are only friendly if you’re a hot young female. Not cool! While the taste and quality of the food gets me in the door, the quality of the service keeps me coming back. Have heard lots of complaints about the wait staff except Dennis. I may have to find another place to eat every week if things don’t change. Bring Dennis back as a waiter!

AMAZING. I had heard wonderful things about this place and after two years, finally got to experience it. The steak was the best I’ve ever had. The Parmesan crusted corn is wonderful as is the salad & the bruschetta, too. Fratellis put any other dining experience I’ve had in Winston to shame. I can’t wait to go back!

My favorite restaurant in Winston Salem! Anytime we go out to celebrate any occasion we go to Fratelli’s. There is nothing bad on the menu. Everything I’ve ever had there has been the best! House salad… Lasagna… Salmon… Steak(so tender you don’t need a knife)… Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding! Equally impressive to the menu is the friendliness of the staff. There are always 2 people taking care of every table so you’re never left unattended Top notch service. Worth every dollar.

My husband & I decided to try Fratelli’s for dinner on our wedding night & I’m glad we did !!! Food was amazing ! We started with calamari & I had the Sirloin with potato cakes(they were the best I’ve ever had). My husband had the Cowboy steak with asparagus. He definitely loved his dinner too. Our server was great, I believe his name was Al. The MOD, Michael was great as well. I really liked the vibe of the restaurant & that the other side was a more laid back atmosphere. We’ll be back !

This place is DELICIOUS! The steak and salad is a must try! It’s pricy so it’s a «special occasion» for us to go, but it’s definitely worth the $$!

After being shunned at another Italian restaurant we were desperate and hungry to eat. As we drove out of the parking lot at the first place I Unilocaled to see what was available and what was recommended. This place fit the bill. I called to ask how long the wait was. I was told that the enclosed patio seating was open. Off we went. When we got there we were seated in the patio, and as another Unilocaler stated, «the land of misfit toys». Our service was fantastic. Our server reminded us of the ideal waitress. I ordered a watermelon martini that for me was too sweet. I did something I never do, I asked to send it back. They did without hesitation. I got a gimlet martini that was out of this world. I really appreciated the service. Next we had the house special salad. My husband who never eats salad had 3 servings. I could have just eaten the salad for hours. Our dinner was equally well done. My husband’s steak and marsella sauce was cooked to perfection. I got the eggplant parm so I could compare it to the other restaurant’s eggplant parm. This one was Not mushy and cooked well. I liked the spinach risotto too. We had a great dinner.

In a frantic rush to find a good quality but reasonably priced steakhouse in the Winston Salem area, my hubby and I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Let me just say… a 6 oz perfectly cooked rare steak that comes with a side and house salad for $ 23… FORTHEWIN!!! That’s like Outback prices folks, and this quality is primo stuff. SOSOSOYUMMY Despite a few flubs: the older hostess said it would be about a 30 min wait at about 8pm on a friday night(understandable though I didn’t see many others waiting), so I asked if we could sit at the bar. She said sure but that it would still be about a 10 min wait because she had to get the ok from the manager that the kitchen was caught up so they could seat is. Some other people come in like 5 minutes later and ask if they can also sit at the bar, she says sure and they walk over to the bar to sit down. Since we were in a hurry, I jumped up and asked the hostess why they were able to sit down. Apparently she was confused and thought I had been asking if I could sit at the bar tables. nope never said that and specifically asked«wherever we can get a sit fastest.» Of course the people that came in and sat at the bar took the last two seats, so my husband and I were pretty pissed. The hostess was at least apologetic and told the other hostess to seat us next. We were seating within the minute and it actually turned out for the best because we ended up getting a bar table and I didn’t really want to sit at the bar anyway, only was willing to do it because we needed to get in and out. The other flub was that asked for my steak to be cooked rare and it came out almost medium. Luckily the cool, attentive waiter(JD) noticed it immediately and apologized and I had another one in about 5 minutes that was cooked to PERFECTION. — So despite those things, I STILL give this place 5 stars because the service and food was wonderful. Got to sit right next to a fireplace, which in the coolness of the night, was very toasty and lovely. Also the waiter got them to put on the Alabama vs. Tennessee game so we got to watch it at the TV right by our table– AWESOME! We had some bread and olive oil with spices come to the table. The bread was soft and the olive oil was good– nothing special but tasty. I got the house salad, which is pictured on someone else’s post, but it has cheese and cranraisins in it amongst a few other things(apple too?)—(I didn’t take pics, which I should have bc this place doesn’t have a lot of pics on Unilocal) but it was DELICIOUS! Very unique salad. My husband go the caesar salad and it was also very tasty. We both got the filet mignon rare and it was really fantastic. The sear and seasoning on the outside blended so well with the melt in your mouth texture inside. My husband said it was really one of the best steaks he’s ever had. He got the cheese risotto as a side and I got the potato pancakes(came with two big ones I think)– his risotto tasted even better as leftovers the next day as the flavors blended even more. My potato pancakes were perfect for sopping up the steak juices. Also the consistency wasn’t like hashbrowns at all, more like pan seared smashed potatoes– creamy and deliciously seasoned. Hubby also go the side scallops as well… they were big and also delicious, but I had a little bit of grit in the one he gave me, and for $ 8.99, they only gave us 2 scallops… for those prices I would say at least give 3! They were tasty though. Overall we left having an AMAZING meal that the next day I told literally everyone about. So well priced! So delicious! Not to mention they carry a good selection of local beer, and you get $ 1 off for ordering local brew!

A 4-star Steak! In Winston, it’s easy to discount the multitude of so-called«good» restaurants with a wave of the hand as simply, «just another mediocre restaurant». If you live here, you know what I’m talking about. That was my expectation heading into dinner at Fratelli’s. The place has changed 3 times in five years… Last Friday’s dinner was a pleasant surprise. Our party of four came in, guns-a-blazing, looking for cocktails and red meat. We got what we wanted and then some. Our waiter tandem(Ask for Dennis and Charley) were on point from the get-go. Friendly, informative, helpful, but not overbearing. Just what you want at a high-end steakhouse. Half the table ordered the special, «Tomahawk steak» — a big hunk of ribeye, still attached to a full bone. Like something out of the Flintstones. It was cooked perfect — heavy charred outside, pink and medium rare on the inside — just as we ordered. Our counterparts on the other side of the table shared a surf-n-turf adventure that paired a nicely seared filet with lobster, shrimp, and scallops. A beauteous meal. Both shared meals came with salads and their unique Krispy Crème bread pudding. I’ll say it again. Krispy Crème Bread Pudding. Exactly as you’d imagine. Effing phenomenal. Add a round of cocktails and a good bottle of red, and we were all completely satisfied at about $ 60 per head. I can’t speak for the Italian menu, and I don’t know how they fare for lunch. But if you are in the mood for a nice steak, it’s as good as any in Winston. 4 stars and yes, I’ll be back.
