I love the food here. Sometimes when they are busy it can get hectic but at the end it is worth it. They have great specials and if you love hot sauces, this is where you want to eat. I love the sauces with a happy face because those are not too bad. The best thing about TF is the prices. You get a ton of food also. Their queso dip is so awesome. I think that you should form your own opinion on this restaurant.

Thank you for going the extra distance for making our experience wonderful. My father who is a little awkward with his wheelchair was treated like a king. Greatly appreciate the fantastic service. Thank you!

Menu offers a wide variety of fresh choices. I especially love that they offer a «Powerlite» option(low fat cheese and sour cream) to make healthy eating a littler easier when eating out. The hot sauce bar is always fun to see what is new and interesting to add to your meal. I always buy a bottle of «Slap My Ass and Call Me Sally» Sweet Chili Sauce. Its great on salads or to cook with chicken and shrimp.

We, my mom and I, went in a little before 5:00. A woman loudly approached us and snatched the menus out of our hand saying we had taken her job away. So she quickly pointed things out to us to hand us back the menus.(This lady was continually loud, with tattoos on her face and never called items their actual names. I’ll call her annoying tattoo face or ATF) So we go to the counter and order two burrito bowls one with chicken one with carnitas. All goes smoothly and they tell us after we order it is full service. That they will bring us out food and refill our drinks and bring us anything we need. We visited the hot sauce bar which ATF had already yelled to us about and I grabbed two which mildly sparked an interest(side note I love hot sauces and actually carry one in my purse at all times so I was very disappointed). She immediately came over and asked what I had gotten and now the other two tables in the restaurant are staring because she is causing such a scene. I briefly said I didn’t know just two that grabbed my attention to which she said ‘hope it wasn’t *blah blah* so spicy. Won’t be able to handle it. You’ll need so much sour cream.‘ She then brings us the food. This is the low rating part. The rice looks and tastes like the rice from the Mexican section at the grocery store you pop in the microwave for two mins and open the bag and serve. The lettuce was old and wilted. ATF saw me pick several pieces out immediately. There were maybe 3 pieces of meat, 1 was just fat. There was no flavor to this burrito bowl. It was like they came up with sauces and hoped you wouldn’t noticed their food was so bland. This was the last time ATF came to our table. I had to go back to the counter for our chips which were the best part of the meal. I also had to go back for a refill on our drinks. ATF visited 2 other tables 3 times while we sat there and I can tell you exactly what she got for them and offered them because she was so loud the entire restaurant knew. The look on their faces said they were pretty embarrassed as well as getting getting annoyed with her childish wording and kiddie talk while screaming it all at you. TL;DR: my mom said ‘I would rather have taken my chances at chipotle’

Tijuana Flats is not your run-of-the-mill tex-mex fare. I’ve visited this location a handful of times, as well as their Raleigh location, and I’m a fan. The food is consistently good, and the staff go above and beyond to make their customers feel welcome… much more than the typical fast casual restaurants such as Chipotle and Panera. The salsa/sauce bar is an interesting addition as well; with a rotating selection of 12 – 16 sauces at any given time, you have fuel to spice up your dining experience. My personal menu favorites are the nachos, hard shell tacos(as big as your face), and mahi tacos. The hub and I are fans of Taco Tuesdaze, the daily special of two hard shell tacos, chips, and a drink for $ 5.99. See you there, fellow Unilocalers!

This is my second time trying this place on my own. I have t say we probably won’t be back. It’s not awful it just isn’t great. Given the choices id prefer Pancho Villas or Chipotle. I wanted to like it which is why we went back again. The guac and cheese dip is good but not thrilled with the rest.

I’ve had takeout from here a few times in the past few weeks. Both visits were great. The staff is very friendly and are quick to refill your drink. I am in love with their salsa and always get a side of it when I order here. On one visit I had the chicken burrito bowl. I like that the rice has good flavor and overall a tasty dish. Another thing I ordered was the bangin burrito which has great spice. I like the fresh chips that come with most entrees. The burrito bowl does not come with chips but I just order a side with salsa which is a lot of chips and salsa. They also do a good job of checking your to go order to make sure it is correct. This has become my go to fast casual Mexican restaurant because of the good service and yummy food.

Update Ron my previous review— SOEXCITED I CAMEBACK! I decided to start celebrating the new year tonight by giving this place another chance. The first time I came was the first night they were open and I’m so thankful I returned to try it again!!! This time I decided to order the special $ 5.99 burrito, chips and a drink for Throwback Thursday. I had the Blackened Chicken Burrito with chips and a drink. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and grilled but not too spicy accompanied by fresh lettuce, tomato, melted shredded cheese inside of a warm flour tortilla. Served with warm tortilla chips and s drink. I also loved the sauces tonight! The one I had last time, Jason’s Mom, was not there, but instead I had two mild salsas that reminded me of a sweet and sour sauce with some extra kick. Delicious! My husband had the same thing and my stepchildren ordered the beef nachos and even dared to challenge each other tasting the hottest salas there! Can’t wait to return and super excited to give an update!

Not a bad spot for the area for something quick. I can imagine it getting old quickly. Drinks(alcohol) are overpriced. And DON’T get their margarita! It’s not«proper.» Nice & novelty, yes, but no one here’s a bartender. Their chips are nice due to them salting them, they they’re not served warm or with salsa. I have not tried their salsas yet. So I won’t be too harsh on them.

New restaurant in Winston-Salem. Went with my family for a quick dinner before running errands. We were very impressed by the outstanding service. Several employees and a couple managers asked us if we need anything, refilled drinks consistently, and asked us if our children needed more juice boxes. The manager even greeted us when we walked in the door. Very good food, reasonable prices compared to the competition, and excellent service by all employees. I really liked the atmosphere, very vibrant and welcoming to the patrons.

I enjoyed my lunch at Tijuana Flats! While I was waiting for my food it was pretty surprising seeing how awesome the staff were. They were really going above and beyond. There was an older gentleman who was reviewing the menu at a table before he ordered and one of the staff members went up to him and asked if we wanted to order a drink while he browsed the menu. She also took the time to explain a lot of the flavor profiles of the hot sauces at the hot bar. I feel like these days you don’t find staff like that, especially in fast, casual, restaurant environments. I also like how they write what your drink is, so they know what to refill it with. The girl who was covering the floor kept busy making sure everyone was getting the refills they needed. Things like that separate it from the other chain taco joints. On to the food! I went with the mahi taco. It was really, really, good! If you weren’t happy with your food, I suggest trying the mahi taco the next time you go in. It comes standard with pico de gallo, cabbage slaw, and a citrus vinaigrette. The fish was cooked perfect and the whole thing was packed full of flavor. The rice and the beans were okay, compared to the taco though I wasn’t as in to them. I’m not sure I will be able to come here and try other things, the mahi taco was that good. The cost of the two tacos, beans, rice, and a drink came to about $ 11. I thought this was pretty reasonable considering the size of the tacos!

We go here far too often, my fiancé and his family love it. I am not a huge fan. The staff are amazing but the food bleh. For the price I would rather go to Mi Pueblo or another restaurant around. The only thing I like is the queso! It has a good flavor!

I expected something better. I ordered a steak burrito and they have a lot of choice in terms of meat and what kind of dish you want(quesadilla, tacos, flautas). I also got mine wet which consisted of salsa verde which was great. Some parts of my burrito was salty but not terrible to where I couldn’t eat it. They had limited toppings which was a disappointment. You can also make it a meal and get rice and beans which I did but again what a disappointment. I believe my order alone cost $ 13 I could have eaten at an actual Mexican restaurant for that much and gotten more for my money. Overall, I might go back but to try tacos since simplicity is their specialty.

Pretty good, beats Taco Bell in quality, freshness, and taste, but not in price. That’s ok because you get what you pay for. We tried beef tacos, steak tacos, cheese enchilada, refried beans, plus we got the Tijuana Trio of salsa, queso, and guac. I loved everything except the cheese enchilada. Have to go a few more times to try different things before I settle on my favorite.

Thought I would give an update to my review as I gave them another shot. This time I ordered take-out to avoid any extra waiting or «chance» of waiting. Ordered 2 tacos since I liked them last time, and they were spot on. They came with a small amount of chips but nothing else. You could of made it a meal(drink and beans) but I opted out. I also got a small order of rice, which had a little bit of spice to it, but rice is rice. Once I placed my order via their online system, they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Sooo drove on down the place and it was crowded, but not as bad as last time. I parked at the take out spot, and went up the counter and waited about 5 minutes before I was acknowledged. The part I didn’t like about this was that I could see my meal right on the counter. I had my money ready, just needed someone to take it. I would say they are still working out some of the kinks but overall better than last time. I still stand by my advice, be prepared to wait when you come here. The food takes about as long as it would take to order at a sit-down restaurant, yet it’s considered fast food.

I agree with Jen B. A trip to Tijuana Flats is a complete sensory overload. If Mellow Mushroom is pizza on marijuana, this place is Tex-Mex on cocaine. We stepped into the door and had three workers in our face immediately explaining how the restaurant works. It’s not really a novel concept(order at the counter) so I’m not sure why the explanation is needed. The next person wanted to get started on our drinks(and then never brought them to us). We got the Tijuana Trio which was chips, queso, guac, and salsa. The chips, queso, and guac were all very very good. The salsa just tasted like tomatoes. No garlic, cilantro, lime, onion, etc. I got the Carnitas No-ritto Bowl. The whole bowl lacked any sort of flavor. I guess they really want you to use the hot sauce bar. Too bad the bar is set-up to be totally crowded if it’s busy. It’s really hard for more than two people to be at the bar at the same time. I would have loved to be able to choose a salsa(instead of a sauce) for my bowl. It was busy and we felt rushed to leave. Pretty disappointing trip.

This place is great! The staff is INCREDIBLY friendly, almost like they are trying to make friends with you(which I love)! They have huge portion sizes and decent prizes. The burrito bowls are delicious and the tacos are so big you really only need one(with some chips). But best of all is the hot sauce section. I am a spicy food lover and find it quite difficult to find restaurants that serve hot sauce on my level of heat. They have several different levels of heat which reaches a point that leaves even me wincing and reaching for the queso dip. They have weekly beer specials as well as margaritas and sangria. I was there the morning it opened and it was already a mad house. I have since visited once more and again it was crowded. I see great success and consistent business in their future. See you guys on Taco Tuesday :) Also, they have really cute t-shirts and I purchased one from our waitress.

I had never been to a Tijuana Flats before so I did not what to expect. It looks like a party bar but it does not have a bar. The food is good and the service is great. I was surprised to see how many little kids were there. This may be a feature I was not informed of. I will be back but next time for lunch.

Tried out this place on opening week so it was super busy as expected. We had about a 20 minute wait in line which gave us plenty of time to figure out what to get. I tried the veggie burrito, sans cheese and sour cream, stuffed with rice and beans and topped with salsa verde. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered wheat burrito and taco shells! We also got a large side of guac to share. Overall, I thought the food was good… but it was no Chipotle. I know not everything has to be, but in my opinion their food has some strange addictive quality that was missing here. I enjoyed my burrito, but it was not amazing. Everything tasted fresh, but a bit under seasoned. The salsa verde, which I chose as a topping was good, but super skimpy, especially since it carried an upcharge. The portion on the guac was generous(esp for $ 2.99) and it again was good, but missing something. I also found it strange that they included chips with every item, but not salsa. So OK, the food was good, but not exciting, however, everything else was excellent. I don’t know if it is because of opening week, but the service was really good. Everyone seemed super helpful and friendly. I also enjoyed their service model. You order at the counter and it is pretty full service after that. The hot sauce bar was also fun and everything we tried was tasty. We will definitely be back. Since the service and atmosphere were great, I would even come and enjoy dinner here(something I couldn’t promise other fast casual burrito places). Plus, I am super curious to give their margaritas a whirl!
