Sonic Drive-In

No no no, the food from this place is so freaking gross! The only thing that is even worth buying from here are the tots or slushies (and even these are super sweet and very hard to finish).

There is a long wait at this location, and it always frustrated me as to why because it’s supposed to be «fast food». Well, I understand now and I gladly wait. This location makes your food to order. Your burger, fries, tots, whatever it is, seems to be made on the spot and always get it piping hot. I live just a few miles down the road, so when I get home, I don’t have a like warm burger, it’s still hot. Speaking of burgers, at Sonics, you can actually taste the seasoning in the meat, and has a tiny bit of char on it from the grill. Their tater-​tots and corn dogs were crispy, not soggy like they just came out of a microwave. I had to wait for my sweet tea because they were brewing it, it took a good little bit, but I have to have my sweet tea. When they came out, they increased my drink size for free for the wait. I didn’t ask, they just did it. And their sweet tea is good. It’s not a diabetic shock and it’s not water with a hint of tea leaves, it’s well-​balanced. I never really went to Sonics before, they weren’t really part of the big competitors like Mikey D’s or Burger King or Wendy’s. I’ll definitely be back. I know they are sticking to their roots, but in all honesty, I think they would be better off making a sit down dining room and have a few bays for people that want to eat in their car. It just doesn’t make much sense nowadays. An idling car can burn 1 gallon of gas an hour and at the prices they are now, it’s cheaper to just shut it off, walk inside, sit and relax… and also get free refills.

Just stopped in drive thru at midnight and was great experience. No one in line, got to menu and maybe 10 seconds to order. Friendly order taker answered questions about milkshakes. get the Oreo Chocolate Malt milkshake… delicious! When handed the cup I banged it on my door and knocked top off spilling some. Worker at window could of just said «not my problem any more «but instead took shake back and wiped all down on outside of cup with lots of napkins. Great experience and great malt!

Ok, so last time I went here my food was so bad that I threw out half of my sandwich. I was reluctant to come back, but it’s Sunday and chik Fila is closed. As I pulled into the driveway I noticed a very long line that didn’t seem to be moving. As I approached the speaker I noticed a piece of paper taped to it stating their system was down and we were to place our orders at the window. This was very frustrating as they didn’t even have someone out there taking orders to speed up the process. I decided it would be faster to go to a pull in station. So I left the line and went to a pull in station only to wait more, pressing the call button several times for no one to show up. It appeared this system was working as I saw other guests being served at pull in stations. After no service for 5 mins I jumped back in the drive through upset and hungry. After sitting in the line another 5 – 10 mins without moving I finally notice someone coming around taking orders. It took a while to get to the window but I finally got my food. Even though my slush was dripping down the sides of the cup, the food was better this time. They didn’t even apologize or give coupons or something for free to the poor people waiting forever. This is just crazy. Terrible service!!! If I’ve ever waited longer than normal at chik fila, which doesn’t usually happen anyway because they are smart enough to usually prevent this, but if I do they usually throw in a coupon for the wait.

Today’s special at the Sonic Drive-​In on University in Winter Park, Fl; Coneys with cold buns, cold cheese and stale fries! For less than $ 9! Now that’s a Deal!

The only sonic in the area, everything’s good but the popcorn chicken always seems dry at this location for some reason.

Used to go to Sonic when I lived on Long Island. Excited to see there was one so close to me. Was not happy at all. They barely give you any food & when I wanted to split my order between credit & cash they told me I couldn’t do that. When I apologized & said that I need to give some food back then the girl got an attitude. Won’t be going back here anymore.

Good location. Food was ok at this particular place and visit. Only one other car in the lot ordering/​eating.
Pulled into a spot and ordered, but was unable to pay. The credit card machine was not accepting it. I got out, went to the window and asked to pay. The girl said the porter would take care of it. I sat and waited. She brought out the food and she took care of the payment for me. We ended up eating outside.
Food was decent, the chicken was a tad overdone, but the fries were awesome. I also snagged a corn dog for old times sake. She liked the burger as well.
Service was fast, just was hoping to eat at home. No big deal. Also, I just got the feeling that the outside was filthy. Nothing looked clean, really. Guess that’s the caveat with metal outdoor tables and chairs. Definitely will do the to-​go next time.

Stale bun, hard patty and tots tasted like old grease! Gross!

Well. I went back and tried it again– the foot long chili cheese dog that’s supposed to now be a quarter pound weenie. NOT!
Not only was the dog the same– the girl screwed up the order. So she voided it out and the new total was the same as the first. WTF?
Oh well, they still have the best coneys!

Love the fact it’s open ²⁴⁄₇; it makes grabbing a bite to eat so convenient with my husband’s crazy work schedule.
It is a fast food joint, so don’t expect anything great or fabulous. If you’ve been to any other Sonic restaurant, then it’s the same-​olé same olé.
They have pretty fast service and the food is good. They have messed up our order a couple of times, but I called and spoke with the manager and the next time we visited, he gave us our food at no charge. So the times they messed up were easily fixed and done so with courtesy, a smile, and an apology.
If you’re in the mood for some artery clogging food, you can never go wrong with a foot long chili cheese coney from sonic! :)
PS: I’m also in love with their coke floats!
