I went to Tatåme a while ago but had not been recently until my wife got the a case of the«I-need-sushi-now-even-though-it’s-9-at-nights!» So we popped in and were pleasantly surprised. We got excellent service from an attentive waitress. We ordered a few rolls and some bubble tea and sake. My wife loved her bubble tea and the sake was excellent. Our sushi was awesome and fresh. The chef obviously has a lot of experience. We will definitely be returning for happy hour sushi and more sake!

My heart is broken as tatame is hardly the place that I’d look so forward to coming to when I was in town. We ordered taro bubble tea and some edamame. The taro tea tasted powdery and the tapioca was stale. Again, not the fresh tasting taro I was used to. The edamame was clearly microwaved and not very good, because I eat microwaved edamame at home. I was also expecting the place to be fairly crowded, as it always is but we(the girlfriend and I) were the only ones there. Tatame, come back please!

Amazing time. I went there with from friends around 1AM on a Saturday morning and the place was completely empty. I would assume it would be, seeing that it was 1 in the morning, but that didn’t stop them from giving up a good time. Upon stepping in, we were greeted by a ridiculously beautiful waitress so said that we could sit anywhere since nobody else was coming in at the time. We picked a seat near the door and she handed us our menus. Seeing that we all weren’t big Sushi eaters, we asked her for her opinion and she recommended different dishes for each of our tastes. A friend got a White Ninja roll, another with the Sexy Salmon roll, and I got the Headhunters roll. While waiting on the dishes, we were in need of a drink so we started off with some flavored sake which was amazing. The waitress was also very insightful into all the different sake that we might be interested in. She persuaded us to try the hot sake, which I personally didn’t like, i’m not much of an alcohol person, but my friends enjoyed. From there, she mentioned the infused sake that they offered which was a mix of the flavored sake, but kept the 15% alcohol inside. We grabbed a bottle of the passion fruit infused sake and finished it off quickly, it was pretty tasty. After about the first bottle of sake came, so did our dishes. The headhunter roll with spicy mayo on the side was melt in your mouth delicious. The sexy salmon, from what I heard, was amazing also and it was even designed to look like a boob, hence the name. The white ninja roll with soy sauce was also a great choice. Throughout the whole night, the sexy waitress kept us company, chatting away with us and having a blast. She definitely made the experience worth while. Overall, the food was great, the sake was alright, and the host was perfect. After splitting 3 big bottles or sake 4 ways and having my headhunter roll, the price came up to about $ 24 which was a little more than I expected. Other than that, once I get some more money, I’m definitely going back to get more.

Unilocal came to the rescue again as I realized when deciding on a sushi restaurant for dinner that we had already eaten at just about every sushi restaurant in at least a 10-mile radius. Happily, I was able to find two that we hadn’t been to yet, each about 12 miles away. We selected Tatame and drove out there, eventually finding parking in a lot just east of Keke’s that was designated for the businesses within Tatame’s building. We were greeted warmly and given the option to sit at a standard table, a table on the floor(not sure what they’re called, where you sit on a pillow on the ground and eat at a low-height table), or bar-style seating with swivel stools. We opted for the low table. I made it through, but apparently I’m too old and/or inflexible to be comfortable in that position, so consider that a warning. :-) We were the only people in the restaurant with the exception of a group of loud customers in one corner drinking sake and filling the air with such pearls of wisdom as(quoting here), «…and I told her that in America, if a guy uses lotion that means he’s gay as f@$%.» Wow, thanks Mr. Ambassador. Way to be a shining representative of our country. Ass. Well anyway, our pleasant and helpful waitress asked if she could make some suggestions on rolls, and we were happy to listen. After finding out from us the type of sushi we prefer(in our case, skip the fried stuff and stick with the raw rolls) she gave us a few options that they seemed particularly proud of. We ordered everything she suggested: Deluxe Spicy Tuna Roll, Red Ninja Roll, White Ninja Roll, and Sexy Salmon Roll. I took a picture of them, but it was too dark, so sorry about that. The Deluxe Spicy Tuna Roll was a standard spicy tuna roll but with the addition of krab salad inside and avocado on top. This was one of my favorites, the very mild sweetness of the krab salad working well with the spicy tuna for an interesting flavor combination. The avocado was the perfect topping for this roll. My other favorite was the Sexy Salmon Roll, and although I can’t recall all of the ingredients, it was mainly salmon both inside and out. The salmon was fantastic: perfectly fresh with no aftertaste, super tender and soft. If you took one of the generous pieces off the top of the roll and put it in your mouth, you could cut it in half just by pressing it between your tongue and the roof of your mouth. It was that good. The White Ninja and Red Ninja were also well done, with the Red Ninja being the spicy one of the two. My wife preferred the Red Ninja over all of the others. Overall, we had no complaints and left satisfied and we’ll be happy to revisit soon.

I had heard of this place but never took the time to visit it until the other night when a friend of mine was showing some of his art there. It was 10 pm on a Friday night and the place was not crowded. When I walked in, I was greeted by a young girl and she wanted to know if I was there to eat. When I told her I was there to see my friend and his work, she said… ‘oh’. and walked away. After about 15 min, I realized that it was just her and another man in the back making food. I decided to have a glass a wine but she never came over to see if I wanted anything. I had to go to the back bar area and then ask for a glass of wine. While waiting, I noticed a hand written sign saying that all charges had to be $ 10 or more. Since I had no cash on me, I told my art friend I needed to run across the street and get some cash from the bank since the wine would be under $ 10. He was nice enough to slip me a ten dollar bill and said not to worry. The waitress brought out the wine and it was fine. A few min later she gave me my bill for the wine and I was shocked… $ 9.59 for a glass of wine? Those are Disney prices! I whipped out my charge card and she took it with out any question. I then gave the ten dollar bill back to my friend. From what my friends told me that night, the food was just okay and everything was too expensive for what you got. I also noticed the man working with the food touching everything… counter, dishes, food, etc and had no gloves on or washing his hand in between each action. The whole place had a feel like they had only just moved in(in a hurry) and they might leave quickly… there was no ‘quality’ to the place. I will not be going back there any time soon. My one and only experience was not the best. BTW… I went for another glass of wine down the street with friends after going here and guess what… I got the same glass of wine for $ 6.00… That’s more like it.

After my last visit, I felt as though an updated review was necessary. Ownership has changed so it’s gone from a pretty awesome sake lounge to another sushi place with about 1⁄5 of the sake’s previously offered. Ho-hum. I ordered the salmon skin roll and the volcano roll. The salmon skin was pretty standard but the volcano roll was strange. Even though they used a mini blow torch on the roll(which was pretty rad!), they also added ponzu sauce which was weird and added unnecessary sweetness. Overall, the sushi was just about average which is very unfortunate. They should have kept with serving mostly sake and a few rolls. The service was easily confused and the prices were a bit steep. Unless they either lower the prices or beef up their customer service, they won’t be competitive enough for the surrounding sushi places, IMO. Why, Tatame? :’(

This place has almost no redeeming qualities anymore. I would frequently go into Tatame when I lived in the area. Glad I don’t live here anymore because this place is the breaks. Went there for a friends birthday and out of the first four of us that ordered, they were«out of» 6 different kinds of sake. ANDHOWCANYOUBEOUTOFTAROBUBBLETEA? THATIS A PRETTYSTANDARDFLAVOUR. They no longer sell sake snow because their sushi menu is larger, apparently. I do not go to a «sake bar» to eat sushi. Their sushi might be good… I don’t know, I didn’t try it. Sorry y’all — Don’t quit your day jobs. Wish I could give this 0 stars… I guess because the DJ played ‘erotic city’ I’ll let it slide. Also, turn the volume down… this isn’t Tabu. Wish the original owner would have made them change their name, because calling this Tatame is a travesty.

Nice place with lots of artsy stuff, I went there for body painting night and it was quite different. They have all sorts of events so definitely visit their website and check out calendar. T They had this Gamer Club Meeting the other night and I bumped into it by accident, I thought they were going to talk about different games and stuff, but the speaker showed lots of pictures of her nephew and talked about some other boring unrelated stuff that just drifted my mind out of Tatame Sake Lounge, into Fiddler’s Green across the street. They have too many things mixed together, maybe just take out ”Sake” and call it Tatame Lounge. I didn’t like Parking either, for an excellent Asian Driver/Parker over here(oh well, I’m exaggerating a bit) I had the most difficulty finding a parking spot. I might go back again purely for curiosity.

I think this lounge is having an identity crisis. Zen, art museum, low lights, and a DJ playing pop hits.. . I was not sure if I should take off my shoes, sit in lotus position and drink tea, or take off my shoes and dance. In the end, I did neither. I sipped on green Earl Gray tea while seated in a chair and was amazed, actually, at the seaweed salad that accompanied my thai spring rolls.. . oh yea, the food menu has an identity crisis as well – Japanese, Latin, and American food all live here. I’ll go back for the seaweed salad in any case – wow was it delicious! Small artsy, funky place to hang with friends. There is also a LGBT night, which is when I went.

Tatame is a great meeting spot for you and your friends. They have cute artwork on their walls and good sake specials. Last time I was here, was two years ago. My friend convinced me to join in on her Valentines Day matchmaking. I was not so lucky. I was paired with a guy who was really awkward. All in all I didn’t take it very seriously. It was still fun to be involved in the events.

When I got there I checked in with Unilocal, than Foursquare(luckily I found a special offer for a free Sake Bomb.) I was greeted by the«mayor» of the place and she quickly hooked me up with the Sake Bomb of my choice *SWEET! I was feeling adventurous so I told Aubrey to make me something special. She came back with the Guava Sake and it was great. Sweet with a slight kick at the end. Next I tried the Jade, another hit. Maybe just a hint of bitterness to go with the sweet. I really enjoyed that one too. I finished up with the Taro Bubble tea, and i was throughly happy with the selections. If you have an open mind just ask the bartender to hook you up and take a sake adventure.

Very small space with music playing that didn’t suite the atmosphere of the bar. First place we went to as newcomers to the area and we were pretty disappointed when we showed up on a Friday night and there were just a handful of people. Cute idea, probably wouldn’t go back.

Tatame is a great place to hang out, enjoy some drinks and some snacks, and watch great events. Recently(like, in the last 3 or 4 months since this review was written) there’s an event there almost every night, so you can always count on something cool going on. My personal favorite, since I’m usually designated driver, is an almond bubble tea, but you can’t go wrong with a Sake-Bomb or Sakerita, either! The wait staff is excellent, the ambiance relaxing in the early evening, and energetic once the joint gets hopping at around 10 or so. Try and get seating at the couches, if you can, because they’re super comfy and give you a great view of the stage!

The Good: [1] This little intimate spot has a lot of personal touches. My favorite was the hand-drawn sign on the inside of the bathroom door unmasking the secrets of how to lock and unlock the door. There is a black light in there too, and it makes for a pretty cool silhouette on the other side of the frosted glass bathroom door. Irrelevant I know, but I revel in the little things. [2] Cute bar-like seating mixes things up a little. [3] The waitress announced happily that *yay* they now have food on their menu. The edamame was delightful, delicious, and delovely. [4] Artwork for sale on the walls! [5] They have an extensive selection of sake, flavored sake, and other interesting drinks. The Bad: [1] If you are claustrophobic and there are more than 30 people in there, Houston, you have a problem. The space is the size of a master bedroom, which is a great thing if you’re throwing a bash with just you and your friends, but bad if your friends bring their friends and their friends’ moms. The Ugly: [1] I had to park across the street where there was clearly a Tow-Away Zone sign planted firmly. But Tatame told me to park there! Just a little nervous ’bout that, that’s all.

Tatame was the brain child of a friend of mine and I’ve seen it through from a design on a napkin to one of the very coolest places in the Orlando area. The sake selection is definitely worth noting because this is a sake bar. You’d expect that. But, they also have a selection of the best Japanese beers which I enjoy from time to time. The art on the wall is always cutting edge and can be yours for a price. The music here is what kept me coming back all these years. I know I’ll always see one of my favorite DJs or artist, but may also find something new I’ve never heard. As far as bubble tea goes, I’m extremely attracted to the Taro. A friend told me it tasted like drinking a chocolate chip cookie. But there is no chocolate in this drink. It’s definitely a cool flavor. But the sake is front and center here something is amiss if you don’t ask the friendly staff for a suggestion that fits your palette. I know there are some changes coming to Tatame, but I’ know it will continue to be one of the cornerstones of Central Florida’s nightlife.

This place is called TataMEH(like a goat) but everyone calls it TataME(as in «me»). That’s how you’d say it in Japanese, though this is not a Japanese place, even though they have a ninja as a logo. They used to call it a tea room, but I am glad they don’t anymore(at least according the their website, ), as it was a bit of a stretch… I remember getting tea there and it came in a styrofoam cup. It’s an event space/lounge where they serve sake and play music. Probably a good place to rent out for exhibits, etc… no other reason for me to go there, although I’d be willing to try their drink combinations if I were in the area sometime.

This is a nice chill place to hang out. My brother went to college with the owner and she now recognizes me when I stop in. The sakes are pretty dope and my fave bubbletea flavors are: lychee & taro(even though it tastes a little too watery for me… but the boba are EXCELLENT: firm, but chewy & sweet enough!) I like to come here to reunite with old friends before we head out clubbing and such. Cool spot!!!
