I discovered Elite Hair Design in 2006 when I was working in the area, needed a haircut and walked in one afternoon. The first haircut Sandra gave me was pretty good, certainly good enough to justify going back a month later. The next haircut was better and the next one even better still. Over the years, Sandra perfected my hairstyle, even as my tastes varied slightly by season or whim. Even when work and home moved elsewhere in Massachusetts, it was worth the 30 – 40 minute drive each way to go to Elite Hair Design. And it’s not just great haircuts either, I’ve come to really enjoy my monthly conversations with Sandra(and I’m pretty introverted and anti-social). Flash forward to 2013, I’m moving to California, and not only do I have no idea how I’m going to get a decent haircut but I find that I’m really going to miss hanging out with Sandra every month.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Valerie for many years and finally realized I’ve never posted a review for the shop. Believe me guys, she’s the best, by far. Period. It’s as simple as that. Walk-ins or make an appointment, shampoo and great cut, it’s that easy. Stop messing around with those franchises with the head pounding music or those cool-for-the-moment shops. Give this old school barbershop a call and get it done right, you won’t regret it. Go, make the call, what are you waiting for?

Paid a lot of money for a buzz cut(20 bucks). She was pleasant enough, but after we had left I noticed that there was a huge chunk of uncut hair in the back. I mean a three inch patch! We didn’t have time to go back to resolve this, so I’m unsure what she would have done to make it better. I should have just bought a some new clippers and done it myself in the first place for the same price.

Went in on a Saturday for a regular cut. I have short hair, so it’s mostly clippers and a little work on the front with scissors. When she was done, I looked at the back with a mirror and saw a line from the clippers. I asked her to fix it, so she did something then showed me again. The line was still there, so I asked her to fix it again. She did something and showed me again. It was still there. I couldn’t ask her to try again because after a certain point, I just assume she doesn’t know how to fix it, and I’ll be left with no hair back there. The rest of the cut was ok, nothing special.

Sandra and Valerie give the best men’s hair cuts in the area. The cost of the cut is a bit higher than some of the cheap cuts-type places but they are well worth it. They’ve been cutting hair for 25 years and basically it’s only men haircuts. As a former NYC guy who spent a lot of money at the big name salon, these two ladies make it nice to be in the suburbs.
