Breakfast is OK… I’ve been here few times. It’s affordable and the coffee and omelettes are OK.
I had lunch here today and the Beef Stew was on the special menu. I ordered that and assumed it was hot… but instead he filled a take out container (meant for entrees) full of beef stew and put it in the microwave. When I got home, the stew was luke-​warm. It must have been ice cold at the restaurant. And because of the flimsy tray, I spilled stew all over the floor. What a mess.
Anyway, you can do better, but it’s a convenient spot.

This place has my favorite breakfast in Quincy. It’s got a small town diner atmosphere to it. The only other option near my place (that I know of) for a real breakfast (not counting Dunkin Donuts) is Friendly’s, and this is much better. I get take out from here all the time — their breakfast specials are extremely affordable, and very good (although all basic breakfast fare).
I’ve only had lunch once or twice, but it’s very good too, they have great sandwiches. Plus, they have a full service deli. I highly recommend the half-​sour pickles. Service is good and the people are friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

Not really sure why this place is so popular.
The pancakes and french toast are undercooked and weird. If you are wondering how anyone can possibly screw up pancakes, then go here and find out.
the hot dishes are nothing special, and the macaroni salad is strange. that’s the only word i can think of to describe it. strange.

I’m only speaking about breakfast here, because that’s all I had.
The breakfast was SO. GOOD. Total greasy spoon, but made on the spot, simple and delicious. I had eggs, bacon (exactly the way I like it, nice and soft and fatty), and a grilled English muffin, WITH coffee for less than 5 dollars. You can’t beat that.
The place is filled with regulars, so just make sure you don’t take their table… or you might get the stink-​eye.

This was a good place before. Like other places bought by sullen folks from former Soviet occupied countries, it lost its soul. The antipasto is not the same, nor the half sour pickles. It does not seem to be as crowded with the Seniors from the nearby tower as it was either.

So I was so excited to try a new deli! Especially one that had so many great reviews. I convinced my boss and co-​workers that we should try this place and was thoroughly embarrassed.
Everything was so amateur and sub-​par I felt like I was eating at a gas station. I just seemed like everything had been made by some old cafeteria lady. The Macaroni and Cheese had a light yellow color and was sort of chunky and looked like they had put flour in it to thicken it and it hadn’t disintegrated. The pasta salad was ok but they just threw roughly chopped veggies in and it was hard to eat. The grilled cheese was made only with american cheese and was super soggy. The tuna salad was nothing to write home about.
The turkey sandwhich was the same.
I mean it was just par and I can get par anywhere.

True Quincy classic. Barry’s has an extremely extensive menu, and is well-​priced. The staff is friendly (if not a bit quiet), the delivery is timely (should you choose to get their delivery, of course), and the food is nothing short of fabulous. The mac ‘n’ cheese and egg salad are my personal favorites!

$ 6 bucks for a corn beef on bulkie roll… Friggin portions were tiny! They gave 1″ of beef… ONE INCH! I usually go over to DJ’s on Boston St in Dorchester. Now, thats a corn beef with 3″ of beef… Barry’s is overpriced and the portions are small… The taste was good. I think I know why small portion — Quincy rents and taxes are high.

By way of explanation, a few years ago Barry’s was purchased from long-​time owners by a family of Albanian immigrants. There was a brief period where the cooking was not up to snuff, but now it’s as good as ever. The new owners have added some nice touches, like flowers on the table. They are extremely nice people, and if someone at the counter seems reticent to speak, it’s probably that he/​she is new and has English difficulties.
They work hard for long hours. I always tip as if the orders were taken at the table, and I encourage other Unilocalers to do likewise.

I had fond memories of this place from when I was young. Now I have new memories of poor quality food and slow delivery (over an hour and a half — 3 miles away!). I had the buffalo chicken wrap. It was the messiest, most poorly put together wrap I have ever eaten. There were still exposed veins in the chicken, the buffalo sauce was utterly horrible and the wrap was drenched with it. I had to eat it with a fork and knife because it was so slippery with sauce. Oh and they forgot my onions! The potato salad was as bland as can be and completely forgettable. The prices were okay but they really should have paid me to eat that monstrosity.

I work in North Quincy and Barry’s Deli has quickly become one of my favorite go-​to spots for breakfast & lunch. Their menu is reasonably priced, and you certainly do get your money’s worth. Whether getting delivery, take-​out, or eating there, Barry’s is certainly something you MUST experience if you live in the Quincy/​Weymouth area.
Reading some of the other reviews I can agree that not all of the staff might be the most personable, but I’m not there to make friends… I’m there for food.
My favorites are their tuna sandwiches, grilled Reuben, and breakfast bonanza’s. They put a seasoning on their home fries that makes them so delicious!
If you’re looking for someone to ask you about your life’s story, head elsewhere. If you’re looking for delicious food served fast and at a great value, head on down.

GREAT food. GREAT prices. Not too bad in terms of ambiance. Go when the clan is running the place. Close at 1pm on Sundays (warning if you are thinking of eating a later lunch)…

Walked in on a dead day. Service was mediocre at best since we stood there for five minutes, waiting for the teenage girl manning the front to get off the phone. No, it wasn’t an order she was taking. From the sounds of it, she was talking to her boyfriend.
My french toast had no taste to it and the middle hadn’t absorbed the liquid well and was soggy while the bacon managed to be burnt and fatty. My friend’s breakfast was no better. His eggs were ordered over hard and came out completely overdone and the homefries were inedible.

5 stars mainly for the ONE AND ONLY thing I order from here — a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on Wheat Bread.
Seriously, it is heaven in your mouth. Extra points because not only do they spread a little butter on the toast, but they cook their bacon just right. Translation: crispy, crispy bacon!!! It doesn’t leave you feeling nasty and/​or guilty after. I’ve had breakfast sandwiches from places where bite after bite, I could feel the oil drip down my throat. Not so with Barry’s!
I’m sure their menu options are good as well, but literally, it is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. Try it… at your own risk because you will be hooked.

As it says next to the stars «Meh. I’ve experienced better.»
Barry’s Deli looks so cool when you walk in, like it got dropped right out of NYC. The menu is extensive, and I was really excited to pick up food from there.
My order consisted of a «Baked» mac and cheese dinner with a cup of soup. The soup was pretty good, but a bit oily. The Mac and Cheese reminded me of my friend’s mom’s mac and cheese… only she couldn’t cook. It was rather tasteless, and I think microwaved instead of baked. Baked mac and cheese should be crunchy. Mac and cheese should have flavor. I’m still eating it… but every bite is dissappointing.
My coworker got the American Chop Suey. She described the sauce as tasting like water. I also brought back a Greek Salad that was piled high with feta, but otherwise looked pretty much like whitish lettuce with a few stray olives.
The sandwiches coming out looked like they could be good, but there are so many deli’s in the area, I’ll probably go else where next time I want a sandwich in Quincy.

I’ve been here 3 times for breakfast now and all my experiences have been… consistent…
I’m not sure whether its cuz its 10am in the morning when I usually hit this place, they get paid extra not to smile, or that these people have all the friends they’ll ever need, but whatever it is the service is as cold and indifferent as a seagull who might poop on you.
The food is what you might expect out of a diner at breakfasttime. Corned beef hash (probably canned), sausage, eggs (real and made to order), french toast, home fries, pancakes, diner coffee. Nothing you can’t make at home unless you failed home-​economics. Nothing spectacular, but if you’ve got a hangover it might solve some of your problems.
This place as a breakfast joint will probably never win any awards, get robbed, or get noticed, but it’ll probably out-​last your hamster, my honda civic and fossil fuel usage.
To be fair I have yet to try their lunch and dinner stuff.

Barry’s deli is always a great treat! They always have a daily special, so make sure you ask what it is if you are calling and ordering! I’ve had the pastrami on a bulkie roll. Which was very good. I’ve also had the american chop suey which was delicious, too!!! My boss always gets the hot dog. and loves it! I know simple. but he swears by it! I’ve also gotten the turkey sandwich with cheese, lett, tom and mayo. The sandwich is huge! I always eat a half one day and save the 2^nd half for the next day!
They have tons of sandwiches/​salads/​meals to choose from. They serve breakfast, too. I’ve never had their breakfast, but I do hear a lot of compliments from people who have.
I noticed someone said the staff was not friendly. But, I’ve been in there several times and the staff is always extremely nice and helpful. It must have been a bad day.
I’d give it 5 stars, but the dining room section really needs some updating. But, then again… it’s a deli!

Barry’s was this Sunday’s brunch of the week. The menu is on the boards behind the counter and in front of the counter. The front of the counter has a lot of the breakfast items and when I was ordering, I didn’t really notice it. I ordered my breakfast off of the specials board though.
The pancakes here were really heavy and doughy. The eggs and bacon, however, were great, according to my friend who I ate with. The patrons made it worth while. They were smiling and very friendly, striking up a conversation with us. The price was right. A breakfast for under $ 5 is great.
I will have to go back for a sandwich at lunch sometime.

Barry’s Deli, in Quincy’s Wollaston neighborhood, is open on Sunday. It’s their secret weapon, making it the place to go for a lazy weekend breakfast. The lackluster décor gives no cause for worry, since its ambiance comes from the patrons. Locals abound, and grins, greetings and waves pass between the laminated tables, and old friends crowd together and join others at their tables. Weekday mornings, the seats are always stocked with coffee-​drinking pensioners.
Barry’s was formerly famous for it’s local-​boy, family-​run vibe, but that shifted a bit when the joint was sold a few years ago. It’s still got good service and a nice crew, though, so don’t let the original Barry’s departure get you down.
Order your food at the deli counter, take a seat, and your food is brought out quickly, and usually without mistake. The grill is located behind the counter, with every step of food preparation exposed. Unlike other restaurants, the prep area is clean and neat and this exposure does nothing to dull the appetite.
The food itself is standard-​fare American deli/​diner, though the breakfast menu is a bit limited, compared to other options. No eggs Benedict found here, but the omelettes are surprisingly good. Barry’s compensates with a solid, on-​demand deli that offers catering and party platters.
When you go to a place like this you don’t want mind-​blowing innovation for your tastebuds, you want reliable, tasty American-​style pancakes, roast-​beef sandwiches and slabs of cheese.
