Evergreen was supposed to show up to trim and remove trees at 8a this morning. I received a bid on September 18, and was told someone would get back with me. I finally called to schedule the time for Evergreen to come. I left a message yesterday because I had not received any confirmation. Left three messages this morning. Nothing! Very disappointed in the service

Meh. Can’t provide an estimate before 8am or be flexible in the late afternoon/early evening? Too bad because everything else sounds pretty great about this company.

Had an appointment for an estimate and the guy showed up 4 – 5 hours late. Not really happy with that because it was at our new house so it was vacant and I had an infant in tow. They say it was because one of the guys was out and so he was behind but a call would have been professional. The administrative assistant apologized profusely. The estimate was reasonable and the guy was knowledgeable. We had our trees cut and when I questioned if one of the trees had been cut enough they sent a guy back out to cut it again no charge. So it wasn’t the best start but overall I was happy with the finished product.

I am conflicted about how to rate Evergreen Arborists. On the one hand, the guys that came out and did the actual work were great. They worked really hard taking down some palm trees and some oleander bushes in some miserable heat conditions. On the other hand, I found communicating with the office and getting the work scheduled a nightmare. In fact, it got so bad, I cancelled the balance of the work. They were the most expensive(not by much), but I picked them because initially I was impressed with their level of professionalism. During the initial call, I was told by their staff that they would come out on a Friday and complete the work on a Monday. At no time did she mention that grinding was done only on Thursdays. I was told the crew would be out between 8:00 and 8:15. On that Friday I had an 9:30 am appointment. By 9:00 am, no one was there and no phone call. I called the office and left a message, no one ever called my back. My wife took off work to be there since I could not stay. The reason someone needed to be there was because there was underground electrical and sprinklers that needed to be pointed out. The crew finally showed up at 10:10 am(again, no call from the office… ever). They did a great job once on site. However, as anticipated, the crew had to come back out on Monday. Come Monday, I received no notice as to when the crew would be there. I waited and waited, but no call. I finally called about 10:00 am and left a message. Again, I never got a call back. The crew showed up around 1:30. Again, they did a good job. I spoke to the office in the late afternoon(my call to them). This is when I found out grinding was Thursday. Now it is Thursday. Again, no phone calls as to when the crew would be out to do the grinding. I called several times and finally got the office around 1:30. It was at this time she told me the grinder was down(later she said everyone was gone for the long holiday weekend). She said the tree crew on Monday was supposed to tell me that no one would be out on Thursday. They had not. She said she would try to get someone out earlier the following week, but it was unlikely. Therefore, I would have to wait until the following Thursday. I expressed my frustrations to her about the lack of communication. No apologies, just excuses. So, I waited until the following Thursday. Again, no calls about when someone would be there. I finally got the office staff on the phone. She said the person who does the grinding was out. She was not in the office, so she would have to call me back later to see if someone else could come out that day. I waited all day for that call… guess what? No call. To make matters even worse. As the woman was hanging up the phone, I heard her saying to herself(or maybe someone else), «I am sick of that guy calling me.» Maybe if she called me, I would not have to call her. Very rude and unprofessional in my book. I called the next day(Friday) to see why she had not called. I called using my cell phone, as I had done during this entire time. No one answered. However, the second time I called from my cell, I immediately followed up from the house phone and the office picked up. I don’t know if she was using caller ID to avoid my call, but I finally did speak with her. I cancelled the grinding and vented my frustration. At no time did she apologize. She told me she got in trouble from the owner for scheduling me so soon. I am sorry for that, but she set the schedule and my expectations. Every time I had to adjust my schedule and take time off. She showed no consideration or understanding of my situation. Finally, I said I wanted to speak to the owner. The office person said he was not in, but she would pass it on. It has been three work days… NOCALLBACK. So, either the owner does not care, or the person who answers the phone did not want to get herself in more trouble by passing on that a customer was not happy. Like I said, the tree crews did a great job. However, based on my experience, I would not use Evergreen Arborist unless you have a lot of patience and a very flexible schedule.

My family had been served by Evergreen Arborist Inc. since 1985. Today a wonderful crew came for some routine trimming. Cody was especially helpful, explaining the difficult reality that one of my favorite trees was suffering from extreme rot and fungal growth. This tree, nearly 60 years old, had been the home for my swings as a youth, and for my tree house as a pre-teen. Cody was very kind and professional, and sensitive to the emotional attachment I have to this tree. He worked hard to thoroughly clear out the rotted areas, and covered the areas with a protective coat. His efforts will help the tree last a little longer, until I’m able to emotionally part with it. To make things even better, he was able to remove a different tree at my request, saving my family nearly $ 200 in return-visit costs. The whole team did a beautiful job with the trimming, and they cleaned up so well that my yards look even better than when they arrived. The trees are all healthier now, and I couldn’t be happier with the service provided today. We will happily be clients forever.

The actual tree-trimming service that this company provided was good, even great. This bad review is because the two guys that were consulting with me about how I wanted my trees cut were both actively smoking cigarettes while talking to me on my front porch, 3-feet away from me. I think that is extremely rude, and I could smell smoke in my entryway for hours after they left. AND I found their cig butts on my sidewalk later on and had to clean up after them. YUCK!

We have used Evergreen Arborist three times now. They have trimmed our weeping willow, Chinese tallows, ornamental pear, and palm trees, and some bushes I had trimmed poorly(not their words). This time, we decided to have them remove the two huge palm trees and a Carolina something. They did an amazing job. They were in and out in one day. They chipped or removed everything. The palm stumps were ground out below ground level. The owner came out to give the estimate. He was helpful and flexible with what they were able to do. He answered all my questions and more. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was pleasant and helpful as well. My husband and I highly recommend Evergreen Arborists.

I was very happy with this service I used to cut down two trees, and trim branches in three others. Before choosing Evergreen, I got three estimates for the work. Evergreen was in the middle, but what impressed me was Miles Danforth’s(the owner) knowledge of the trees and how to trim for the health of the tree. At our first meeting(before the work was done) he gave me many tips on keeping my trees healthy. The crew was nice, efficient and cleaned up.
