Worst clam chowder I’ve ever had, absolutely no flavor. Don’t even know how that’s possible. Steak and steak tips were decent, although food arrived warm instead of hot. Staff was either inexperienced or very lazy, place was not even ¼ full and wait staff just took forever. Will definitely go elsewhere when I’m back in town.

Everything was frozen. If you can’t tell the difference between fresh and frozen fish. This place is for you.

If you want a good experience in Woods Hole, DONTEATHERE! I really hate to leave a bad review. The only good thing about this place is the style. The service was awful. Should of taken a hint from the couple that was upset at their waiter/waitress and just left. We should have done the same. We sadly got the same waitress. Even more so being double charged on drinks that were very watered down! The food was awful. But the service was the worst. Extremely rude older lady kinda heavy with blonde hair. I hate to say racist… but she was very nice to the table across from us full of white girls. It was my first time trying this place and it will be the last. I’m reporting this experience to my bank so I can get the charges fixed.

I’ve been put out of better places for better reasons. If I could give negative stars I would. The waitress was in such a rush, that we could hardly finish a sentence. They gave one of our appetizers to another table on the opposite side of the room because they«assumed» we were together because they also had black people at their table.(Common so we let that slide even made a joke). My food came out cold. And then they were upset because our waitress continued to be rude by snatching my half eaten dessert off the table, so we tipped accordingly. The manager told us not to return(like that was even an option) after the three of us had spent almost $ 200 in the restaurant. If your looking for bad service, come here!

Well got seated then they came over and said they made a mistake and we would have to move, the table was taken. Really. So go over but the high top by the bar, which was good the ufc fights were on. Ordered drinks we got fast ordered food. A family came in and sat next to us at the bar waiting for a table and said they could not have the kids watch the fight and asked for it to be changed, bartender just did and didn’t ask any of the others watching the fights. Two mins after they got a table. They didn’t change the back fights. Got our food, steak tips were ok the veggies you couldn’t eat they were burnt the baked potatoes was not cooked . I know it’s winter but let’s serve food that you can eat. I prob will not even go back this summer.

I’ve eaten here twice in the past year and both times the service, ambiance, and food was great. I went here once in July and once in January and both times was able to get a table for lunch without a reservation and no wait time!(Although it was much more crowded in July as you can imagine.) And both times we were able to get tables with views of the water which is gorgeous! I love that they offer a heated deck option in the winter. I loved their clam chowder — perfect amount and not too filling for an appetizer. I think they have generous lunch portions for all of their dishes so you definitely get your money’s worth of food! My only reason for giving 4 stars versus 5 stars is that I dined both times with a vegetarian who didn’t find a lot of options on the menu. Since this is one of the only restaurants open in January in the area, it would be great to have some more opps for vegetarians. I am not a vegetarian so I had no complaints for dinner options and I highly recommend any of the fresh fish options. The lobster roll is particularly yummy. They also have their own Captain Kidd root beer which was the perfect nonalcoholic drink for the lunch dishes. I didn’t dine with any children but I saw plenty of families there with kids. They had crayons and food options for kids so this is definitely a family friendly place!

It’s 50 degrees outside and cozy in here. Nice Christmas decorations :) Three of us had Kettle One & Cranberry drinks and we all felt they were rather weak. We came for the oysters and they«only have them on the weekend». The food we settled on was excellent: I had wings and my husband had the mussels. Our friends fish & chips were fried to perfection hough the fries seemed to be double fried. Her husbands fish tacos were«probably the best I’ve ever eaten» and he’s an avid fisherman and boat captain! Eat here and enjoy!

Captain Kidd is your stereotypical Cape Cod waterfront seafood bar. It’s not really about the food. You come for the experience of eating/drinking on the water. There’s a ton of seating on the dock in the summer and its a fantastic spot to enjoy a beer on a nice day while admiring the harbor. The beer selection is nothing to write home about, but you should be able to find something decent. The food is fine, but waaaaay overpriced. I had the fried cod sandwich with fries, which is $ 14. The fries were skin on, but kind of bland and not all that crispy. It wouldn’t shock me if they were frozen at some point. The fish sandwich is pretty good. There’s a decent sized piece of cod and the breading doesn’t dissolve immediately. The fish itself isn’t the most flavorful, but there’s tartar sauce and lemon to fix that. The brioche roll it comes on is mediocre, but much better than the rolls you usually get with fried seafood so I’ll give them points for that. Overall, come for the view and don’t hesitate to get a drink. There are probably better places to eat, but if you’re already here the food isn’t bad.

Evidently we were not welcome here. I hate to think racial. We sat a good 20 minutes at table waiting on a bartender to wait on us. The hostess kept going to the bar telling them we were ready to order. 3 bartenders. Finally get drinks, no coasters, straws, nothing. We sat again waiting to reorder. That was out the question. We got up to leave then bartender going to say, you ready to check out. I blew a cork. He then said they were changing over. Still couldn’t you have told us that.

Captain Kidd, woods hole. The place just isn’t what it used to be. When I visit woods hole I remember the old bar and and cheap pizzas. This place is only fine dining 9 $ for a chowder … 7.50 for a beer. No thanks. I’ll stay in Boston.

What a fabulous night I had at this restaurant! I had two friends in from Ohio and after a recommendation from a local we went here. Now, I am a New Englander through and through. Probably to a fault. And I take where we live for granted sometimes. But even I thought the scenery was outstanding. Right on the water, with sunset happening. Outstanding! I ordered some drink off of the menu that I forget the exact name right now. Something about a sparkling rose? It had prosecco and elderflower in it. This girl is a big fan of elderflower drinks. But after some confusion I hadn’t received my drink. I ordered another… but to make a long story short they ended up making me an off menu drink. It was very pretty! And VERY yummy! So yummy in fact that this very cheap girl ordered three over the course of the night. At $ 11 a piece! That really doesn’t happen. Ever. But I think I got carried away with the food and the company and the atmosphere. Anyways. They did lose a star. And it had nothing to do with our waiter mind you, he was fabulous.(I wish I could remember his name, but he had been born in Martha’s vineyard and had moved to NYC if anyone from the restaurant is reading this and cares-blond hair) You know how some people are just really good at their jobs? That was him. Anyways, it had nothing to do with him, it was the food. Which was not terrible by any stretch. My thing is, that I can forgive the prices if the food is outstanding. Buuuut, my fries were delicious but lukewarm, and even when we got another side of fries, they were lukewarm as well. My friend found sand in his shellfish. we weren’t really taken with the cole slaw. Ya know, small things like that. Enough to complain? Aside from the fries certainly not. I would definitely recommend coming into this very chic restaurant and giving it a try.

We came for late lunch, seated at pontoon, it was wonderful view, under the sun with cool harbour breeze… Beautiful We ordered pork and crab wonton to share for our starter. I didn’t expecting came with wonderful steam vegetables, was so nice and good portion too. Had steamer soft clams with dipping was so good. Lobster with corn on the cob and vegetable was delicious and fun to eat. All food was in good portion and good price. Free wifi. Our waiter was absolutely sweet and helpful. Was worth it stop by in Wood Hole 17th September 2015

We just had lunch here and it was a pretty bad experience. Initially we waited 5 at the door with no one offering to seat us. We finally were seated after I went to the longer to inquire about seating. Service was alright at first. The beer I asked for wasn’t available. We asked for 3 waters and were only brought one with our drinks. I ordered chowder which wasn’t brought out under our lunch was. Then we weren’t given silverware or napkins. Had to wait several minutes for those after we asked. Waitress had an attitude after this, rather than being overly nice to make up for her shortcomings thus far. Food wasn’t bad and location was nice. Too bad the service didn’t meet up to it.

Great food! Loved the lobster panzanella they did last year. Such great renovations, with great ambiance and décor. Their tacos are fantastic. Service is always great and hostesses are fast and very accommodating. Beautiful dock dining! Bar side is always a great time as well… wonderful dark and stormy! Highly recommend.

Food is outstanding: a solid 4 out of 5. Their kale salad is probably the best salad I’ve ever had. Kale, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, Almond Slices, Shredded Parm, and Avocado Lime dressing… Sounds so simple but the texture and mouth feel associated with this salad just made it beyond outstanding. I was similarly impressed by the mussels. I’ve had their mussels 4 times and each time, I’ve thought this. Just be warned: order extra bread to ensure you can take advantage of the marinade, which begs to be soaked up by some carby goodness. My dining companion and I also feasted on the fish tacos(got them steamed) and loved them as well. We also ordered the fish«special,» which was a pecan maple crusted cod stuffed with lemon butter. Basically, it was our divine dessert. We also shared an outstanding bottle of wine. We ended up getting a red blend by Josh. Also a pleasant surprise– great bottle at a fair price point.($ 42). All that food and it came out to about $ 100– this place is very fairly priced! Other highlights included the great service from our friendly waiter Rich and the amazing outdoor views. Nothing beats that pier and the duck pond!

I have loved the bar with the marble rail for years. Then a couple of weeks ago we had dinner out on the dock. They don’t reserve these tables so we lucked out and our guests from Montréal loved it! We were right on the water with a view of Eel Pond. The scallop dish was Delicious– not sweet– just fresh and tasty. Had mini chocolate bombe for dessert. It was a yummy combination of chocolate mousse and hard shell chocolate. Highly recommended. We found on street parking at 7 pm on a Saturday night. Not bad!!! And Woods Hole is a charming place for an after dinner walk.

We say on the lounge or bar side. We were able to get a seat out on the deck. The view was great. Very new England small port with lots of boats. We started with the calamari. It was delicious although a little small for the cost. I would have expected more. The cup of lobster bisque was great. Lots of flavor and lobster! My son loved it and kept on asking for some. This night there was also a band playing light quiet music. A def plus to the experience. Dinner however needed a little help. I ordered the chick sandwich and my wife ordered the lazy man’s lobster. My dinner came out without the dry rub and slaw. I tried my wife’s and it was good but lacked seasoning. Upon the server asking about my meal, she apologized for the mistake and the kitchen made me a new plate. The exec chef also came out to apologize. The hand cut fries were also great but again I think had little to no salt and pepper. Overall we had a nice experience. If they can season better and send the dinner out correctly it would be a true winner.

Here’s the good: the view is incredible, especially if you can snag a table in the back with the fireplace. The entire room is over water and it’s a great experience. Also, the food is very good here and at decent prices. I had the clam chowder that was a lot more broth than anything else, which was disappointing. But the salmon was perfect. The bad: the service. I don’t know if they were just having an off night, but there were plenty of mistakes. First off, I kept ordering the Heavy Seas IPA that was on cask, but kept receiving the IPA that was on tap instead. Then we ordered red wine, but the waitress came back with white wine. Then during our meal someone brought us ice cream that we didn’t order, and he looked like he knew we didn’t order it, but as we were the only people left in the back room, tried to put it on us. I am willing to give this restaurant another chance, but our first impression was not very good.

Here with Rebecca tonight, and what a superb seating spot I got us here. Simple dinner but a perfect spot here in Woods Hole. We had a young server that was all about us enjoying our time together with just the right amount of conversation from him. We had a glass of white wine and the Whales Tale beer from Nantucket which was indeed most welcome, though I do hate that they provided so little from the area really, and too much ‘standard’ fare. I mean who really needs ANY Budweiser??? The simple meals included perfectly cooked burgers and chicken, nothing too crazy here really. The spot where we sat, out along the water was truly TODIEFOR just impressive. I cannot talk crazy for the dinner because of the seating, it really amazed that much. Were the burgers great? Sure they were.
