One word: AWESOME! I have been searching for a barbershop that can cut Asian hair(thick, poofy and sometimes voluminous) the way I want it. I’ve been to «the Barbershop» in Forest Hills and«On the Mark» in Manhattan, which are both well reviewed on Unilocal but this place blows them out of the water! The Cut: I got a taper on the side and back with a combover/pompadour on the top, and it looks banging! . The prices: $ 15 haircut Extra for a shave The service: I got my haircut by Jose, the owner, who was highly professional, attentive, and amazing with the razor and scissors. He reassured me that he’s cut Asian hair for years and even gave me styling tips at the end. He works with Carlos, who was very professional as well. I sneezed a couple of times(allergy season) and he said«bless you» multiple times, which is rare in NY lol. His other customers seemed to like their haircuts as well. The wait: They’re busier thurs-sat especially in the late-afternoon and evenings so wait is around 30−45mins. I expect it to be much shorter otherwise. In the meantime, they have the news or sports especially baseball playing on two TVs. Overall: I haven’t received such a nice haircut and service in a long time. Best of all, they are pros at cutting Asian hair!!! Yaaasss!

I have been looking for a barber in queens since I moved here not too long ago and I have finally, painstakingly found my barbershop. Carlos was my barber and he did exactly what I wanted and better. My fade was nice and he kept my front hair longer than the back. Simply, I looked unusually better than normal. My girlfriend agrees! She almost never does. anywho. Also this place is very clean and had sports on TV too!

Love coming here. Very friendly and chill spot to come to. If you can call in advance do so as some days can be busier than others and the wait can be up to an hour but the cut will be very worth it.

Don’t listen to the naysayers. For starters, THEREISNOAPPOINTMENTSYSTEM. It’s a BARBERSHOP for crying out loud!!! Making others in store wait for those who may be delayed or simply decide to not show up at all. Businesses like these are on a FIRSTCOME, FIRSTSERVEBASIS. If that is your only gripe, then you have to be pretty full of yourself. You’re a customer, no different than anyone one else so have some respect and wait your turn. This place isn’t about speedy, quick, cheap cuts. This place is all about quality first. Now that we got that out of the way, let me share with you all about my experience here. Having moved to Woodside, Queens early 2010, I knew nothing about the neighborhood and what was hot in my neighborhood. For the longest time, I was going to Wenzhou Hair Salon because I didn’t know any better. In 2011, I was hired at my uncle’s office as a Clerk/assistant in Accounting. One day, on the job, a fellow co-worker asked me where I get my haircut. I told him that I go to Wenzhou Hair Salon and it’s run by Chinese people. He told me that if I truly wanted a quality haircut, that I should go to a Latino barber. Eventually, once my hair grew back, I began my search. I walked around my neighborhood until I found someone that met the description and who could fulfill my needs. That is when I came across«At The Buzzer» and was acquainted with Jose. I could tell from the way Jose was taking his time cutting his clients’ hair that he was very attentive to detail and invested in giving the clients exactly what they want. The last GOOD barber I had was in Manhattan, also Latino by the name of «Delta» who used to work at Rami’s Barber Shop near Kips Bay/Gramercy, so I knew this was gonna be good. Sure enough, my hunch was right. From the first haircut onwards, I felt confident and pleased. That is when I decided that Jose would be my new barber. Every time I get a cut from him, I feel revitalized because he makes me look good in ways not many others can. He really cares about getting the job done right and has no time to waste. So on a final note, please don’t waste his time with your whining. If your want your haircut early, GETTHEREEARLY!!! Put yourself in others’ shoes. If YOU were in the shop and you were stopped from getting in the seat because someone who may or may not show up has booked first, you guys would be whining anyway. Jose isn’t rude, just honest and real. It may feel like a pain to wait for others, but good things come to those who wait. Good things take time. Go there, you won’t regret it. You’ll come out looking fresh every time. It’s not speedy, but it’s well worth the investment.

What makes a difference between the hundreds of haircutting establishments throughout the city? Well, here is why I believe«At the Buzzer» stands out. Nine times out of ten you walk into a conversation between everyone in the shop – it could be about sports, the economy, music, etc. When or if when you add in your own feedback you never feel out of place or unwelcomed, which the staff makes sure of that. There’s this family vibe about the place. The barbers really take to parents and their children. I’ve seen numerous mothers/fathers bring in their troop to get haircuts – that could very well be because of the environment provided by the staff. I’ve brought my teenage sons in for their cuts and they now just go on their own. Normally the shop maintains two barbers on any given day. They don’t do or take appointments, they don’t pick and choose their patrons and they don’t rush you out the door; which I greatly appreciate. In fact, they take their time to cut your hair and they never seem to have a problem touching up according to the desires of the customer. The décor is simple and to the point; nothing much to the place. If I had a complaint, it would be the long wooden bench that you’d sit, waiting your turn for a cut and its pretty uncomfortable. They have TV’s located in each corner of the shop and the owner has no problem putting anything on for the patron. What motivated me to write a review about the buzzer? The simple fact that this shop has a modern feel to an old school barbershop tradition; I hope that it remains that way.

It’s been a while since I’ve found a barbershop I like… and I’ve tried a few in Sunnyside and had little luck. I walked past«At the Buzzer» one day while in Woodside and thought the place looked nice(the antique barber chairs stand out) and decided to return during business hours. Jose(the owner) cut my hair. No fuss… simple cut, neat and clean. He’s a really friendly guy(and is adept at the right amount of conversation… that sounds weird, but I feel like sometimes a barber talks your ear off… and other times a barber will say almost nothing while cutting your hair…). I’ll return to «At the Buzzer» and recommend it to anyone in Sunnyside/Woodside looking for a good haircut.

Since I saw this spot had a couple of good reviews — I decided to try it out. The shop itself is pretty spacious — I went during the day so there was only 1 barber, but there are 4 chairs. The barber — Jose, who also happens to the owner was cool, and very friendly — he seemed to know everyone of the customers that came in. He did a good job on the cut — I prefer when the barber takes more time on the fade but it still turned out decent. I decided to also get a shave which he did a really good job — giving me a really close shave. FYI — The phone number listed is old.

A great neighborhood barber in Woodside. The owner has recently replaced the generic barber chairs with old-style ones, and the place looks sharp. Super nice guy, great haircut for my son.

Rude owner, doesn’t understand how to take an appointment, nor does he have common courtesy. This place is down the block from me. I’ve gotten a haircut here a few times and a few months back called the owner(Jose?), asked him how many he had(he said no one), gave him my name and told him I would be there in five minutes to get a haircut. Five minutes later I show up and he tells me that he now has two people ahead of me! I calmly explained to him that I JUST called him five minutes ago saying that I would be right over. He simply says«sorry I got two heads now.» I understand him taking the first person, but two people especially after I show up within 5 minutes of talking to him. I was very annoyed and immediately let him know that he lost my business.
