I had never had a Pudgie’s before visiting this Woodside spot and I’ve seen been to three other locations. For all of the generic, chain laden chicken joints whether its Popeyes, Raising Canes, KFC and the like, Pudgie’s has easily been the least appealing of the bunch. This Woodside location never saw it till the end, which is likely no surprise to anyone who was there. The star of the show, the fried chicken was just dry and bland. Was able to give this joint a couple of shots at trying something different chicken wise, but even when served fresh, something was off. Portion size was never an issue, but few people are hungry enough to feast on big pieces of subpar fried chicken. Friends who have dined here with me were also unimpressed, but I didn’t need their disapproval to know something was up. To complement the chicken, the sides were equally disappointing if not worse. Mashed potatoes from instant mix and a flavorless yet watery mac and cheese was enough to not make me want any again. No bueno. It is least surprising since its it was a fast food joint, but these standards were pretty darn low. Tuscan Chicken( ) now occupies the spot, which is a money one since it’s literally next to the 61st train stop. Fingers crossed it does all the right things that Pudgie’s Woodside seemingly could never do well.

Had it yesterday, with French fries and Cole slaw. Within hours I woke up with a severe rash all over my body, and numbness. NOJOKING. I almost called an ambulance due to the severe allergic reaction. Luckily I found Benadryl at a nearby pharmacy. Not sure if the chicken or the oil they used was old, but I never had this happened before. My advice, if you must try it, eat with caution.

I have not had Pudgies in years. Growing up on Long Island I used to get the delicious skinless Buffalo wings. I have walked by this location which seems to be the only one I have seen in about 20 years. The chicken I am happy to say is exactly how I remember it. Super crispy and juicy. The only down side was the wings were small.

That yellow box with the red lettering brings me back to when i was a little girl. Mom would send dad out to Middle Village for a 10 piece from Pudgies. The big ZEROTRANSFAT trend had us believing that zero trans fat meant healthy… newsflash: fried food, not healthy. However, fried chicken is the ulitmate comfort food. And when the middle village location closed down, i thought we would never see it again. Until now! Same reliable fried chicken. Its fresh, its crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Pudgies beckons. Of course, now that I am moving back to brooklyn, i have a reason to venture out to Queens. maybe I will even send my father out like old times to make the memory come alive. I am not a huge fan of the sides… or the«biscuits»… there are somethings you just can’t mess with. So, stick to the chicken. You will be happy.

Pudgies– I purchased 2 corn dogs and sweet mash potatoes. The sweet mash potatoes were good. It was very settle sweet and too sweet. Very warm actually. The corn dog size was deceiving. The ad made it look twice as large but it wasn’t. It was super juicy though and the flour used was good too. There is no bathroom in this store. My total was 6.5 for 2 corn dogs and potato. I didn’t want to eat chicken so I didn’t get a taste of that

We ordered the regular fried chicken, cajun BBQ wings, & the hot buffalo wings. As for the sides, we had the fries. The food there were just alright, a bit bland. The wings were a bit soggy. The staff were pretty friendly. Great service! Very polite. The place is also pretty clean. We spent about $ 21 for 3 piece meal(2 thighs &1 drumstick + dinner roll + drink) &20 pieces wings.

This place is good to grab a quick bite. Provided your into fried chicken and hot dogs. But I tried, I tried to like their food. But when you serve nothing but fried chicken its really hard to compete with KFC and Joilbees in the same neighborhood. I’ve tried their fried chicken but I just don’t see whats so special about it. Small portions and it tasted just average, also the mashed potatoes tasted like it came out of a box. But their prices are cheap, its a good place to stop by when you’re broke.

Haven’t seen a Pudgie’s in forever… so was a bit surprised to see it popping up in Woodside of all places. I didn’t order my own dish as I was eating in a few hours but my boyfriend couldn’t resist one of their dinner meals. Everything I tasted was delicious. I mean, fast food chicken is fast food chicken. I wasn’t blown away but I wasn’t dissatisfied either. If you’re hungry, in the neighborhood and craving chicken… I think you’ve found your place.

This place is so famous that I’ve never heard of it before! Supposedly, they have a few other locations in the US. This one opened not too long ago in Woodside. I opted for the three piece meal. It came with a breast, thigh, and drumstick. The chicken itself was very average. I would say it is about as good as fried chicken you find in KFC. A place like Popeyes tastes much better than this place. The meal came with a dinner roll(not a biscuit) and I chose mashed potatoes as the side — both were so-so as well. The place is very clean and the people there are friendly, but the food is nothing special.

Uhm, why did this place get so many good reviews? The chicken was NASTY. It was so soggy and mushy, and I felt sick after. The only good part was that the boys that worked there were really nice and sweet. But seriously y’all, do we know what chicken is supposed to taste like??? And y’all like this place??? Y’all are crazy.

New chicken place popped up on the corner of 61st and roosevelt in what seemed like a week’s worth of construction! The chicken was juicy and delicious when I had a bite of my friend’s meal one day, but when I went back to try it myself, I got an order for takeout. By the time I reached home which is literally 1 block away, the chicken was not so good and the skin wasn’t even crispy anymore. I’m not sure if my timing for getting fresh chicken was off, or if my short trip had turned the once juicy crispy chicken into day old fried chicken wings. Also you get a buttery roll instead of a biscuit. The mashed potatoes are good, and there are even items from Nathan’s hot dogs and burgers here as well. I think I’ll probably try this chicken again sometime since the first time was so good, but inconsistency is never a good sign for a new place.

I am not a NY boy. This store popped up into my eyes occasionally when i lost my direction with GPS. My curiosity drives me to give it a try. It turns out to be a big surprise for me. The chicken here is so favorable especially the wings. Also, i will strongly recommend fellows to try mashed sweet potato(NEVERTRIEDBEFORE, Was Delicious!). I had 20 wings thus didn’t try the skinless chicken. But I am sure i will come back for more.
