I’m horribly sad to see this place closed! I just got back from living out west for 10 years and was looking forward to their Shahi paneer. This was the first indian restaurant I ever ate it and that dish blew me away. I spent the next decade trying to find it out west… never really could. My friend bought it once from surya, froze it and shipped it, that’s how much I loved it. If you guys are open someplace else, please comment here and I’ll visit! Sad!

The BEST Chicken Tikki Masala, hands down, anywhere. Don’t even try to argue it, your tastebuds won’t like you for it!

I don’t want to give even a single star. Do not even think about to go this nasty place. I never seen such bad food in my life and a arrogant owner. We had only a spoon of food and don’t want to spoil our health by having second. We called the owner and complained and he said we cannot cook for individuals taste and he asked us to pay before leave. They never had a idea about Indian food not go here and don’t spend your valuable money to the worst owner

I really liked this restaurant, I love Indian food and they really got it right. Their rice pudding was single most amazing recipe I’ve ever had.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food. I ordered lamb saag and found the meat was tender and moist and the spice(I like medium), just right. The portion was on the generous side. My wife very much enjoyed the chicken tiki masala and we both enjoyed the garlic naan. The only setback was the lack of papadum and chutnies while waiting for the food. A small point to an otherwise very enjoyable meal.

Descent food, but service is a bit slow. Not bad overall. The garlic Nan and biryani are probably the best dishes there.

The Vindaloo is EVIL! Just the way I like it. This is hands down my wife and I’s favorite Indian place. The service is a bit laid back for the tastes of most impatient Americans who like to read the words of their own complaints, but sometimes good food takes time. Some of the wait staff is young and inexperienced but I find this all charming and not a single mistake has ever been made. I think the issue is that most, of not all the wait staff are not American born and may not understand American idioms. Try not to use metaphors when ordering, just order what you want or point it out. The food is always delightful and as I’ve mentioned, the vindaloo is thoroughly evil. I’m talking Go to the dark side, do not pass go, do not collect $ 200.00. They are not afraid to make it spicy for you. The rice is always cooked to perfection and the naan is always perfectly seasoned. The Mango Lassi is also very good. The general atmosphere of the place makes for a quiet dining experience. There’s also always some Indian«Bollywood» on the TV.

First time trying Indian food and this was where my girlfriend and I went. The food was pretty descent, but the service was lacking a lot. There was only one person taking care of everyone and it took her at least 15 – 20 Minutes before we even were asked what we wanted to drink. Other then the very slow service the food was good. This would definitely be a place I would come back to if I were the only customer or if they hired at least 1 more server.

Chicken tikka masala sort of tasted distinctly like Ragu sauce… other than that, garlic naan was delicious.

When I first started my journey into eating Indian food, this restaurant was one of my first. It was here that I had a rose shake, and fell in love with rooh-afza. It is been quite sometime since I am going to this restaurant, but I remember the food being very good. The pakora were perfect, I think we got some kind of sampler plate of appetizers. I think I also got shahi paneer, caused me to follow love with it and now I make it at home. I visited during the daytime, and it was not very busy which was nice. If you have been curious about trying this restaurant, I suggest you do it!

Surya, Surya, Surya where do I start. First I will say I am giving it a 2 star for HORRIBLE services. We had two waitress. One of them was great and so nice, the other was horrible. The first girl even came and apologized for the second one behavior. Let’s just say, I am not returning to Surya. I

There are two kinds of Indian restaurants. One kind serves real Indian food. The other kind Americanizes their dishes so that people who don’t really like Indian food will enjoy it. Surya is the latter. They add butter to their lentil soup. They add cream to their baigan bartha. Hey, if that’s what you want, then Surya is for you. As for me, I left and went somewhere that I could get real Indian food.

One of the horrible place I have ever gone. If you are a party of 5 even then you have to call them because they have lot of empty tables so that they can reserve one for you. You need to order appetizer, main course everything as soon as you have the menu, server will not give you time even if you ask for some time, I had to argue to get us some time to decide on main course, this place have there own theory for ordering. Food did not Taste that great at all. Everyone in my group was disappointed with the kinda of food n service. If you ask for water, «server will say jug is on the table» this is one kind of response. If you wanna know about quantity of a dish, server will say order how much ever you want I DON’T CARE, this is way too much guys !!!

For an Englishman looking for a good curry it’s pretty damn close. Having one waitress serving on a saturday night would be my only criticism.

My boyfriend and I came in for a date one night. We were a little hesistant because my sister claims she got food poisoning from this place before, but i love Indian so we had to try it. Our waitress was super sweet and the food was outstanding! We have had Indian food in many restaurants and the food here was delicious. We ordered super spicy curry and garlic naan and were not disappointed. The only thing that I can complain about is the wine. I ordered a chardonnay and when I tasted it, it tasted super sweet, tangy and obviously old. It had probably been opened for a few weeks. Other than the out dated wine, the food was delicious and we will definitely be back for more food!

Based on all the positive reviews I was expecting better. The vegetarian dishes here just seem on a par with low quality buffet. But I was paying for separate entrée. The food is way way too rich. I mean if you need to gain weight quickly, I am sure a few meals here will pack on the pounds. The nann are almost completely coated and dipped in butter, I could not eat the nann. This was all pretty standard to low quality North Indian food. And not cheap at all. Even though I gave it two stars, I would never eat here again.

Gotta love route 9 and all of it’s Indian eats! Ok, so maybe Surya isn’t on Rt 9 exactly… but close enough! Hubby and I had a hard time finding it even with our navigator… we were looking for it along the street, but in fact it’s behind the first row of restaurants. It’s sorta behind Funky Murphy’s. Parking seemed a bit tight and appears to be shared. I’m not sure I’d attempt a 9pm sit down on Friday with all the bar patrons snagging the spots. Am I missing another dedicated parking spot as I read another reviewer comment about? Anyway…the food… thats what you want to know about! Bollywood Café and India Café… they were our usual go to spots, but not anymore! Holy Cow! The CTM(Chicken TIkka Masala) was the best ever. I asked for it hot, and hot it was! I haven’t broken out in a sweat while eating Indian, well, since I was in India! Very vibrant red with a nice thick sauce. Hubby also got a chicken dish but I can’t remember what it’s called. Creamy but yet totally different than CTM. Whatever it was, it was delish! Sweet at first with a kick of heat in the end. The garlic naan was also very tasty and well seasoned… Oh and their lentil soup. I am a huge fan of Mulligatawny and sorta lump all lentil soups under this name. Most of the lentil soups I have had are all very similar… but not this one. Surya’s lentil soup was orange in color and bit sweeter… totally different taste than Bollywood and India Café! Love it! Mouth is watering as I type! Looking forward to going back and trying more off their menu!
