Great food!!! Love the people who own it also!!! Fun place to go before a show or if you want a local place with big flavor.

I recently discovered this gem of a café from its stellar Unilocal reviews and stopped in for a light dinner while passing through the area. The atmosphere is decidedly no-frills, so don’t expect anything too fancy here. That said, the food and service are both top notch and I really enjoyed my meal here. As I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the café’s kitchen in plain view. It almost felt like they had taken the kitchen of someone’s apartment and planted it in a restaurant setting. As a result, the patron is able to watch their food be prepared from scratch. This didn’t bother me, but I did find it a bit unconventional for a place like this. Usually you only see this at coffeehouses and sandwich shops. That must be the«café» part. I ordered the lamb pita wrap, which consisted of lamb, pickled onions, feta cheese, and a tomato-ginger compote, which was excellent overall. I have eaten a lot of Mediterranean food in my day and never tasted anything quite like it. I think it must have been the combination of the compote and the pickled onions, but it had a distinctive flavor that was hard to pin down. It was delicious though, so I guess that’s really all that matters! I found the lamb just a bit too chewy, but that didn’t detract from the overall meal. It was very good quality meat, they probably just could have used to marinate it for a bit longer is all. The owner who prepared the food was very friendly and hospitable. You could tell he takes pride in running a quality establishment and enjoys serving delicious food to the area. Prices were pretty reasonable. I think my sandwich ran about $ 7 – 8, which seemed fair given the sizable portion and high quality of the ingredients. Overall, a wonderful«hole in the wall» type place and one which I will definitely be returning to whenever I am back in Worcester.

We had lunch in Nov. 2015 and found it indeed very good and tasteful. The place does not look too convincing when you walk up but the food was good!

My husband and I got take out here for lunch. We work downtown and it’s easy to walk to. My husband got the Thanksgiving sandwich and said it was delicious. I had a side salad and pumpkin soup which was a daily special. Both the salad and soup were delicious. They gave me a house balsamic dressing that tasted homemade. The soup was thick and filling. It was not very busy for lunch(Friday). They take the Woo Card and Belly App. We will be back!

Tiny place with less than 10 tables but the food is outstanding! The chef is also the waitstaff and he makes sure everyone is happy. Can’t wait to come back and work my way through the menu. Many items look great. Obviously a great chef who takes great care with all his guests!

A small place that’s BIG on flavor and portions! Just happened across this place while looking for a brunch place and talk about a hidden gem! I had the biscuits with sausage gravy and eggs… and it was awesome. I’m a southern boy and it reminded me of a great breakfast back home. Diverse menu, awesome chef. You’ve got to try this place out!

I live right down the block from the theatre café and LOVE grabbing lunch or dinner there. They’ll even pack it up to go when you’d rather just hang at home– but the cute little dining area is lovely as well. The food is excellent– we’ve tried several items on the menu and have never been disappointed. Love the fresh French fries and their French onion soup is amazing. Can’t go wrong with any of the wraps either! Quick, friendly, fresh experience every time. I highly recommend it! :) I only wish they opened earlier for breakfast so I could stop by on my way into work!

This was such an adorable place! My friends and I stopped here after seeing reviews on Unilocal and I’m so glad we did. Friendly and funny staff, delicious food with a range of options, and a homey atmosphere. The kitchen is visible from your table, so you can see just how your food is being prepared. I was hesitant about ordering the hummus wrap because I thought«that sounds so healthy that there’s no way it could satisfy my taste buds/ravenous stomach». I couldn’t have been more wrong, nor could I be more happy to be so! it was absolutely delicious and flavorful with the various hot veggies and the cool spinach wrap. I don’t know how they made healthy taste so good, but what I do know is that my figure and I are grateful that they did and I will certainly be back for more! Almost forgot to mention that all of this deliciousness and nutritiousness can be acquired here at a low price. My wrap was $ 7.50 and if you check out their menu online they have reasonable prices across the board for some great tasting food. You should absolutely check them out too!

Teeny tiny place near the Hanover Theater that makes surprisingly good, gourmet food. From the outside you’re expecting typical diner fare, but this is something of a higher quality. I’ve sampled a few things here(Spicy Thai chicken wrap and the brunch Lobster Eggs Benedict) and I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. This small place with the dingy exterior has some hella good food! On top of that, the prices are so reasonable I could cry with pleasure! $ 16 for the lobster Bene with home fries and a cup of coffee). Believe me, I am well acquainted with expensive, but poor quality food. Theater Café is reasonable and delicious, two things I love when it comes to food. Definitely a place worth trying at least once if you’re on Main Street, and one worth going back to more than once.

It’s a cozy little spot, pretty easy to miss — I’ve almost never been in Worcester in daylight pre-Palladium shows so I never knew it was down the street after years of coming to the area for concerts! My party all got omelets with hash browns and toast, very tasty(good for recovery if you were up late the night before) but surprisingly greasy. Upon going up to the register to pay, I noticed that everything was being cooked on a single hot plate, the kind of thing a similar breakfast place would use just for keeping hash browns warm, or if you were camping, so that explains it. Very unusual way to do things, so the fact that they don’t have a stove means it’ll take a bit to get your food.(restaurant with no stove, I do realize how weird that sounds as I write it) Since it’s a small place and set up the way it is, they can get a little flustered by multiple orders and don’t seem to have a solid system for putting things down on a slip. I asked for no broccoli and got broccoli. Ham, got sausage instead. It still tasted fine, don’t get me wrong here — I was too tired to fight it, and didn’t have the time to wait for another one to be made. Just breathe and write the orders down! I was desperate for breakfast food, I’ll say that much, it’s very inexpensive, and the owners are friendly. Just don’t go if you’re in a hurry and make sure you get your order read back to you.

Stopped by with a couple work buddies looking for an afternoon pick me up. Despite the sunny weather all of us seemed to have some dark clouds hovering over us. Once we found Theatre Café our day immediately took a turn for the better. The owner, I’m assuming, served us up some delectable treats. Some of us enjoyed the ice cream, a few had some iced coffees and one lucky soul tried the Spicy Thai Chicken Wrap. All of us thoroughly enjoyed every item we ate or drank. I would highly recommend this place to residents or visitors of Worcester.

If you’re looking for a fast lunch that is not too heavy this is the place to go. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes aren’t overwhelming. My food(pork banh mi) tasted fresh and homemade. The kitchen is right behind the front counter so it can become a little loud. My friend got a burger which was just a plain beef patty no real seasonings or anything. Overall, I enjoyed my meal so I would come back here.

Another outstanding meal and good service before the Moody Blues concert. I had a cup of clam chowder and grilled salmon with brussel sprouts and white rice. My guest had the French onion soup and seafood medley. Delicious and healthy portions. Continued success. I look forward to returning.

I had stopped by this little gem in Worcester while visiting my girlfriend. It was a small hole-in-the-wall-like establishment, and nothing grand was expected when I walked inside of it. It was certainly not fine dining, but I had a better experience here than I would in any $$+ restaurant. Throughout the meal, the chef/owner, Bill, was exceptionally cordial and accommodating, at the same time not at all invasive. The food was also very good: perhaps not out-of-this-world for all palates, but most definitely above average among all the cafés of this size. If I had lived in Worcester, I think I’d gladly become a regular at the Theatre Café. Five stars, Bill!

Friendly staff, delicious homemade food, and great atmosphere. Food is very cheap for the quality of ingredients and portions are satisfying. They have great breakfast/lunch menu too but I especially love going there for dinner. Great family-operated restaurant. I recommend it to everyone.

The food here is home cooked and delicious. The couple running the place are friendly and really good cooks. Expect your meal to take a little time, as it is made to order. It can be a little cramped around lunch so you may consider calling ahead if you are getting food to go. The atmosphere is low-key and no-frills but the establishment supports local artists and provides gallery space which is really nice to see. If you do call ahead to place an order around lunch time, be advised — the woman who answers the phone will be flustered and somewhat rude, as if they don’t want the business, but this is most likely due to a combination of an overwhelming amount of orders being placed with just poor customer service. The prices are moderate, but the food is well worth the value if you have an hour to kill waiting for your sandwich.

I’ve been through here twice while traveling for work, and it was as excellent this past time as I remembered! It’s very convenient to the Hanover Theatre, and has some New England staples that I crave whenever I’m in the area; and they’re done right, too! Must haves: Clam chowder, lobster roll, and lobster mac’n’cheese. The owners are fabulous, and even honored a special request for a baked good not normally found on the menu! If you’re going before or after a show, be sure to make a reservation, as the dining area is very small and gets booked regularly while a show is happening.
