I haven’t heard many good things about this place, and after being there, I have to agree with people. I got Pulled Pork and Mac and Cheese, and I must say I think the pork must have been the driest thing I’ve eaten in a long time. I had to drench my pulled pork in their BBQ sauce to be even able to down this one. The people at the counter were the typical disinterested employees. Mac and Cheese was ok, but I’ve had much much better. I gave it two stars only because the service was very fast and the BBQ sauces they had were good. Overall, not very impressed and I will not be back.

I stopped in with a business associate and found the service friendly, fast and very knowledgeable with the menu. Our food was called out quickly and I must say the brisket was very good. I asked for the burnt charred ends and it was very good. The baked beans had great flavor and were delivered hot. The atmosphere is very patriotic and it is exceptionally clean, open and the tables are large enough for bigger parties. I always judge a bathroom with the kitchen’s cleanliness and I was not disappointed. I would say the management has it together and they care about their appearance, product and service. I’ll definitely go back to eat and use their WiFi at a table near the open access doors during warmer days. If you like bbq this is a great place to visit and taste a good meal at a reasonable price.

Yum-O!!! We ordered TakeOut and boy were we not disappointed!!! Pulled pork, beef brisket, baked beans, Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, French fries and cornbread. The pork was super tender. The brisket had excellent flavor. Baked beans were awesome with pieces of brisket in it. Im my opinion the Mac and cheese could have been a little cheesier but still had great flavor. Cole slaw could have been creamier. French fries were awesome. Cornbread was good too. Could have maybe had sweet butter? Service was awesome! Order was checked and shown to us before we left ensuring we had everything. Will definitely be going back when in the mood for BBQ!!!

I have read a number of complaints about the prices being high and not offering a discount to active members and vets. First, let me address the prices. If you have never smoked a brisket, smoke a few and then tell me the prices are high. Brisket in the area has been running as high as $ 7.75 a pound and averaging over $ 4 a pound. Buy a 20lb brisket, spend an hour of more trimming and prepping it overnight and then smoke it for 10 – 12 hours and you won’t think the price is out of line. After that 20lb brisket is done you probably lost 30% of the weight in the cooking process. As for discounting to vets and active service members, this is a business, so I don’t see a problem. Due to a defect I could not server but I do donate to the Wounded Warrior Project, the VFW and the PVA as well as supported a tournament fisherman on the PVA circuit when I had my embroidery business.

It seems everyone is butt hurt about active military not being offered a discount. I am sorry, but it is a business with a bottom line and a P&L statement to maintain the restaurant. You all need to get over being so cheap. I hope everyone who complains gives a LOT of donations themselves. I am very supportive of the troops, but you all need to focus your attention on the moron political parties who remove benefits to our vets let alone seniors, who, by the way get no discounts either

The good: 1) food was pretty good, a little salty 2) very friendly staff 3) I liked the military theme 4) I liked how fast I could get in and out with the order at the counter and pick up your food method. I prefer this over table service. The bad: 1) I didn’t like any of the BBQ sauces 2) VERYEXPENSIVE for not that much food and a fast food style meal The meat was $ 9 and then $ 3 for one side and a drink. Those are sit down prices. They serve less than half of what a sit down restaurant would serve for the same price 3) Are they exploiting the military? They use military to sell food, yet, there is NOMILITARYDISCOUNT. And, how much are they actually donating? You are asked as a customer if YOU want to donate to the wounded warrior fund. Is this where they are getting their money to donate? It doesn’t say anywhere on their website how they are donating. I have military in my family and have a huge problem with this possible fake support. If anyone from Mission BBQ is reading this, please respond to #3 above. Thank you. So, I’m conflicted.

Came in here with a big party(10 adults 5 kids) and was pleasantly surprised. It was about 4pm on a Saturday so the place wasn’t busy which worked in our favor with 5 kids under the age of 6. The staff was really nice and patient with us and many came over to see how we were doing and helped clean the tables as we finished. Everyone was really happy with what they ordered and said how delicious it was. The chopped brisket sandwich I ordered was especially delicious. The sauces on the table were great and had amazing flavor. I’m not in this part of PA often but next time I am I think I’ll definitely be making a trip to Mission BBQ again.

Excellent! It is cafeteria style so you order at the counter then grab your seat. The food is so good! All the staff is very knowledgable on the different types and style of sauces as well as meats. You won’t leave here hungry that is for sure.

Went on ratings from Unilocal and NOT a disappointment at all. The fries are amazing as well as the cheesy potatoes and brisket. A bit pricey but very good. I’d def go back.

BBQ… enough said. Well, maybe not. Was a little aprehensive when we first went here. This was my second visit(it was that good). Anyway, it is counter service only. The sampler platter is what I ordered both times. It was enough for my wife and I. My son had the kids platter. right around $ 30 total. That is pretty darn good price. The brisket, pork, ribs, all of it is awesomely prepared. I am a BBQ fanatic, I smoke my own meats as a hobby. This is good stuff… Plus they are focused around the service personel(military, fire, EMS, police, etc) The atmosphere is very laid back, food is served on brown paper on a aluminum tray. Staff are very friendly, and are walking around cleaning up and asking how your meal was. The NC Vinegar on the tables is awesome. I need to find the recipe. The fries are fresh cut and cooked perfect. The NC vinegar is the bomb on them. My son loves the place, he actually suggested we go there both time, one smart 7 year old, dad taught him well.

No discount given to active members of the armed services or veterans. This place does a great job totally exploiting the great people who wear dog tags but do not honor them with a discount. SHAMEONYOUMISSIONBBQ… You plaster your walls with red, white, blue nostalgia and faces of hero’s you don’t honor with a simple discount. If you had to pay licensing fees to them for the blood sweat and tears they put in perhaps you would prefer a discount. The food is medicare the exploitation is over the top. F… you Mission BBQ. Honor the Hero’s..

A good selection of meats and sauces, with cornbread and other fun sides to round out your meal. Be sure to try the pulled pork and sample all six BBQ sauces to find your favorite.

Just tried this restaurant tonight after moving to Wyomissing about a week ago. My boyfriend was stationed in Texas when he was in the military so he never passes up the chance to try some BBQ. I liked the style of the restaurant; very a la carte. And you can mix and match your own sauces at the table. Nice atmosphere and short waiting times to order and for the food to be ready.

Loved this place. The Brisket was excellent. My son, a normally picky eater was begging for more after he tried my brisket and spicy jalapeño sausage. He also loved his brisket burger. The fries were good and fresh cut. The mac & cheese was actually good and had great flavor. We liked the six barbecue sauces that are on the table. We also liked the theme of the restaurant and what it stands for AND their support of The Wounded Warrior Project.

We initially ordered the combo platter. It was good but the portions were very small and a bit pricy. Overall: B Would I eat there again? Yes, but would look for other bbq places first Would like to try other dishes in order to best evaluate the overall quality.

first time here while in town with a couple of friends and have to say this place is a solid bbq restaurant! service is quick and staff are all very friendly and accommodating — one of the servers walking by asked us how everything tasted and we all agreed that everything was very good except the strawberry shortcake dessert side that was too sweet in our opinion. The server ended up giving us a large complimentary brownie in replacement of the shortcake, even though we kindly declined. Glad she ended up giving us the brownie anyways because it turned out delicious! if you are looking to satisfy any BBQ cravings, this is the place to go! seating is spacious and you have the freedom to fill/refill your own drink whether its sweet tea, lemonade, or any of their fountain drinks. My friends got the meat samplers of brisket, pulled pork, and sausage, while I got the 5 bones of bay-b-back ribs and ribeye steak. My favorite was the bay-b-back ribs that fell right off the bone as you can see in one of the picture posted! Main letdown was the ribeye steak which turned out too chewy, at least ¼ of it being all fat, and slightly overpriced for the size and cut. All the food in general before dipping in any of their 6 sauces found on each table was generally salty enough to enjoy on its own in my opinion with the classic BBQ grill taste in each bite. If I’m ever in town, will come back for more! side note, if you order the american heroes cup to help support the Wounded Warriors Project, you can bring it back in your next visit and get a drink for just 99 cents!

The other reviews pretty much nailed it. As a native Georgia boy, the only slight miss was the sauce. Despite there being six options, I still couldn’t find the one that reminds me of the Dreamland or Fat Mats days back home. However, there options — which is good — and I was able to mix and match to find a taste that works. I ordered the Pulled Pork Meat Market(i.e. plate) with Green Beans and Fries. The meat, veggie and supplied cornbread were out of sight good… fries, well, are fries. And as far as drinks go, I am a Sweet Tea fanatic — and theirs is pretty darn good(although not the best ever). I would highly recommend Mission BBQ. Excellent!

Just got the 3 meat sampler XXL combo. The brisket was really juicy and moist! The pulled pork was alright and the baby back ribs were super dry — borderline burnt. However all the meats had minimal flavor so you have to slather on the BBQ sauces(Honey Heat was my fav but super fun to try all 6 they have). Mac and cheese was great as well — good flavor and consistency. Green beans side not bad at all!

I was skeptical about trying out a BBQ joint in the Wyomissing area; perhaps in general just afraid of dry, flavorless meats. However, I was thoroughly impressed with the food and the staff! Our food was presented so professionally and placed in an eye-catching way. The taste of our chopped brisket sandwich and traditional pulled pork was perfectly seasoned and warm. The staff was very polite and extremely friendly. They asked how we were doing, gave us samples of their spicy jalapeño sausage, cleared our trays, and there was always someone checking on us! It was restaurant service, but almost like a courtesy to come and take care of us. I’m big on service and they deserve 5 stars for being so awesome! Great food, great atmosphere for friends, family and large groups… and it’s BYOB! :)

Considering it was opening day, the staff did an excellent job of keeping the long line moving and making my son and I feel welcome. The menu is a little pricey for«fast-casual» food, but you get tasty, hot(when appropriate) food and reasonable portions. This southerner-at-heart likes the sweet tea so that’s saying something. At the table are 6 options for BBQ sauce plus a North Carolina-style vinegar if you feel the meat needs it but in my opinion the pulled pork was so moist and tasty I could have gone without. The fresh-cut fries rival the best in the area. The atmosphere is very patriotic. They believe«there is nothing more American than BBQ» and claim«[they] are proudly serving those who serve». It would be a fine place to take a date or host a business lunch yet still family-friendly. It is now my «mission» to return frequently until I have tried everything on their menu.
