Spending time at one of the 1.345 million winery’s in the area? Yes, I realize that number is an exaggeration, but if you blink, you’ll probably miss a sign directing to the one you may have wanted to check out! :) There are so many to choose from, but if you get hungry and your specific winery doesn’t serve any food, I would indeed recommend checking out the outpost! My company has some farming land in the area and during my recent visit, I had the opportunity to have some lunch here. My co-worker decided to go with his usual, a cheeseburger, which looked delicious, while I decided to check out their Philly. The night before I stopped at a place called Henry’s Brew Pub in downtown Portland(where my hotel was) and the outposts’ Philly is absolutely better than Henry’s. Plenty of ice cold brew to devour, if wine isn’t your thing, so check this little place out the next time you’re in Yamhill.

My wifi was down in the storm, and I needed to sign some legal stuff to sell my house, so I went down to the Trask Mountain Outpost to use their wifi. I usually go there for Breakfast(best I’ve had), but I just needed the wifi, so I went into the bar. It was busy for a Tuesday night. I had a beer while waiting for the documents to get posted, and by the time I was done with the beer my documents came back completed. I went to pay and the owned said«Merry Christmas, no charge». I tried to pay anyway and he refused. I love this place.

Went out to to this place friends of mine had a GIG here! The p! ace was packed the staff was wonderful! They were able to keep up with the high demand. I left my very expensive Versace prescription sunglasses sitting on a bench! I called the next day panicked and spoke to Shawn. I live about 2hours away and it would have been very difficult to retrieve them. Shawn said he would pop them in the mail tomorrow saving the day ! Thank you Trask and Shawn for finding them and sending them to me!!!

Only place in town that serves breakfast… I’d keep driving to Carlton. It’s greasy spoon diner quality food. Nothing nutritious on the menu. No real butter, cheap tadteless eggs. The building is cute, but I don’t waste my money here with so many great options in the next two towns.

I just had a breakfast meeting at the Trask Mountain Outpost with a business associate of mine. The food was great and so was the service. You will feel right at home in this home town atmosphere.

I don’t understand giving the place a 3 star because it isn’t an expensive gourmet restaurant. That’s like giving a Chevy a 3 because it isn’t a Mercedes. This is a solid little small-town restaurant, really good burgers and great service at a good price. It took about five minutes to get our food and we were in and out in about a half hour. Exactly what we were looking for.

My 97 year old father lives in McMinnville and no longer drives. Almost weekly we go out to see him(we live in Tigard). We always give him his choice of lunch places and his response is normally, «I don’t care.»(Someone should name a restaurant that, it couldn’t help but be busy). Anyway, today he said he wanted to go to Yamhill. So we did and stopped at the Outpost for lunch. I love small town eating places — they are so very real and unpretentious. Dad had pancakes and eggs(made it by the skin of our teeth for breakfast), my wife had a BLT and I had a regular hamburger. All were very good and served to us by an overworked but friendly lady(assumed she was the owner, but maybe not). All in all an enjoyable lunch.

Nice log cabin, nice interior, nice people. Average food. This is not an old ma and pa home made food place. The prices are fair and as stated above the ambience is nice, but the food has an out of a box from the freezer feel to it. Sort of like Shari’s. This place has potential but the food needs to change for me to go back.

We used to love going to the Outpost because the food was awesome. But things have changed over the past year or so and now all you get is typical food service-type fare. There is nothing special about it. The burgers are good, but not great primarily because the beef is preformed frozen patties. They would be doing themselves a service to buy their meat locally at Carlton Meat Packing. This is very typical diner food. Service is usually good and speedy, but so is this food so I know it definitely doesn’t consist of much quality. The owner, Duane, is a very nice guy. I hope he takes his patrons comments seriously and makes some changes.

A hidden gem of Yamhill. Domestics and microbrews on tap. Full bar. Great food and prices, awesome service.

So I’m giving them three stars with the explanation that Trask Mountain Outpost is A-OK for what it is, it might even be 5 stars for what it is, it’s just not what most of my friends and acquaintances are looking for most of the time. It’s located on the main drag, a large building, looks kinda like a large log cabin, with a café in one half, and a pool hall/bar in the other. My friends and I were out enjoying the beautiful lavender farms and wineries in the area, and due to lack of planning, or any type of forethought, our hunger pangs got the best of us. We saw this place and they had outdoor tables, so we decided to take a gander at the menu and in unison decided it would do. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered 3 sandwiches, a Club, a BLT, and a Focaccia Chicken(on sourdough hold the Focaccia), and a Cobb salad, and got pretty much exactly what we would expect from a place that is really designed for locals or more rural types than us citified Portlanders(snark at us.) The bread was fresh, the sandwich fillings were good, the salad fixin’s(cause really, at a place like this, fixins is appropriate) were good, the sodas and ice teas were refilled often. The pool hall was empty, but is probably the place to be on a Friday night. And the bartender was super nice too, she came and refilled our beverages a few times.
