So this library is on the second story only. That makes it a bit more difficult to carry a heavy stack of books when the stairs are busy– but they have an elevator so that makes it much better. The computers are usually fantastic. Printing takes approximately .2 seconds of your time and it’s great. The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have one complaint: I want it to be bigger! Yelm is a growing city and while this isn’t some tiny little 3 shelf library(it’s actually pretty decently sized) I feel like Yelm deserves a library that doesn’t have to share a building area with Casa Mia and other little restaurants and such. It should have a nice big building to itself. I’ve never run into any issues with the staff and have found them all to be super sweet and helpful. After you’ve been in a few times they tend to remember you too. It’s really, really nice. I love this little library.

Although the library itself is awesome, the people and it’s policies need some improvement. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but there are a few bad apples. The policy that I have an issue with is the one stating you are not allowed to return books at the desk, only in the«return» slots in the front. The reason this is such an issue is that I read an average of 50 books a week to my kids. So, once a week I come in return 50 books and check out 50 books, 50 is the limit. So if they have not gotten to the books that are sitting in the return bin I am unable to check any books out because of the limit. I was told they«prefer» the books retuned in the bin not to the front desk, then today a rude woman informed me it’s «their policy» And that the only way this problem can be fixed is I get another library card and check books out on two cards. So two cards to keep track of and two sets of books. There is an issue and it should be resolved.
