This place is so AWESOME! The fried chicken, mac and cheese, pound cake, and peach cobbler are my favorites. Every time I’m in town, this is where I come.

Just two white city folk looking for a good place to eat on our travels — they sure did not disappoint either! We had the Mac n’ cheese, green beans, fried fish and banana pudding. All the food was da bomb! If you’re contemplating whether or not to go — stop it — just go !! They are a tucked away little secret.

Forget Popeyes, KFC, or any other«chicken place». This is real fried chicken. Get the mac and cheese and die happy. Friendly staff and great service!

We were looking for something off the interstate besides the standard fast food choices and we’re lucky to find Larkin’s here on Unilocal and it did not disappoint. We had a mix of baked and fried chicken and both were delicious. We had macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes as our sides and again both were excellent. This place was well worth the few miles of travel off the interstate and the next time we find ourselves passing this exit, we will be sure to stop here again.

Food and service is great!!! It’s a couple miles off of the interstate but well worth the time, it’s a no frills little restaurant but really makes it up in service, friendliness and quality REAL food! Home cooking like grandma use to make explains it well and very reasonably priced, we tried to tip a young man for being so helpful in making sure we had everything we needed and he said«no thank you sir, that’s my job»…now how often does that happen! Such nice people restores my faith in mankind! Try the chicken… it’s amazing!!!

I stopped in York on the way back from a family visit. I’m an amateur foodie and like to explore for good places to eat. This spot is just a little off the beaten path — I20 — but worth the extra time. It’s just not worth the fat grams to eat fast food. I can handle a cheeseburger from one of the ubiquitous burger chains, but my wife can’t. So, I find the good spots and navigate us to them. This is a gem. True soul food. My wife had fried chicken because she’s not that adventurous, plus it looked great. I had the turkey wing. Now, is there a burger joint that sells this? Nope. My wife said chicken was best she’s ever had. When we left, I asked her if she was just trying to be nice and she said no, it really was. Veggies were good and Mac n cheese was outstanding. Cornbread a little sweet for me, I like it plain, but a lot of people like it that way. Price was reasonable — $ 6 each. Highly recommend this place. Staff was nice and friendly.

The best soul food in western Alabama. I drove from Forest MS to try some home country cooking in AL. I was not disappointed. The fry chicken was delicious and the Mac and Chesse was the best I have eaten ever. Do not let the store front country looking parking lot trick you. Once you enter the building it was clean and everyone was friendly. I will be returning soon for some good country food.

The people at Larkin’s were super nice. My sister, father and I came in there to escape the treacherous heat(we were on bicycles) and they were more than accommodating. The portions were huge and everything was delicious. Some of the best soul food I’ve had. If you’re in the area don’t eat anywhere else! Thank you to everyone at Larkin’s!
