I really miss China Dragon. The food was really good. The mushroom chicken was so yummy. The chow mein is great too. One thing is the atmosphere of the building. It was really outdated and dark. It Def needed to be remodeled before it caught fire twice. I want them to open again as long as they change the décor.

I grew up going to China Dragon and back in the day when Wah Lee was the main man it was a great place for americanized chinese. Best kung pao chicken I have found and awesome general tso’s chicken. The chicken in foil was a really good app, and the prices were really reasonable(less than $ 10 a person). Even when the restaurant changed ownership most of the food stayed the same so I kept going. Now the restaurant has changed ownership about 4 times, and its most recent reincarnation is the twin to Ming’s, which sucks. I am in town for Thanksgiving and ordered the general chicken I had been craving, and my sister ordered the green bean chicken. Both were way under par. Chicken was overcooked and oversauced, green beans were limp from also being overcooked, and accompanying rice was dry and taseless. Nobody likes Ming’s, that’s why everyone used to go to China Dragon. Now both spots are doomed to dry rice, oily proteins, and tasteless noodles. I am giving them 3 stars out of nostalgia and the fact that the food(though not good) is still better than Ming’s, weirdly enough. It is really sad to see this place in the shape it currently is; I won’t be going back during visits home anymore.

My first review got filtered. Hubby requested a second visit because it is the better of two poor Chinese restaurants in Yreka, both owned by the same family. We ordered take out for 7 adults and 4 kids, which made it well over $ 100. We ordered their fanciest and most expensive family-style meals, about $ 12 or so each, plus enough teriyaki chicken for four little kids.(I described the box size I needed of the kid food.) What was opened at the park was not enough food for 7 adults, but more like what they would have served for THREE adults in the restaurant. Poor quality. The«teriyaki chicken for four little kids» was ONE bland sort of chicken patty(smaller than a hamburger). Don’t know about your kids, but FOUROFMINE will eat a bit more than ONE chicken patty between for FOUROFTHEM. Disappointed again. Please don’t filter this. It is legit. Really.

I agree that the staff is not friendly! I usually get a take out order, but will not dine in. The atmosphere is depressing~ There IS one waitress who appears to hate her job, and is sullen when she provides service. The last time I went there with my son and family, the order was close to $ 100 dollars, she practically threw the plates on the table~ no lie! Life’s too short and money too hard to come by to suffer through that kind of dining experience!

I have been going to this place since I was little and was Wah Lee’s. The food we go for is the pecan chicken. It used to be better though. The whole place used to be better. It had a friendlier atmosphere before.

Pork fried rice most of the time are old and yukky taste. Though beef brocolli and Szechuan beef they do it very good. That’s the only thing we like in there. The service sucks though. One waitress the way she approach us is like she hates her job, the waiter is good and friendly though. The reason why we still kepp going there, that’s the only place in Yreka which having a good chinese food.

OK, that’s kinda generous. Again consider where you are at. Y-Town has limited offerings. Moved here from LA, where you can get REAL Chinese food. They also had what we called ‘cheap Chinese’. You know, a whole to-go-box full of Chinese for under $ 5. Well, that’s what this is, only it’s not cheap. The best deal is the buffet at lunch for under $ 10. Owners have always been polite and welcoming. Service has always been good. Same guy owns Ming’s so don’t go thinking of trying the ‘other ’ place in town and getting better food.

I can’t tell you how much I wish for the days of Wah Lee’s restaurant where they showed you to your table. I had such high hopes when I booked my Dad’s retirement party here on 3÷1÷08. I was completely let down and very embarrassed that I had it there. I remember the old days of great Christmas and Retirement parties that were held there. The food and service were always great… not anymore! When I arrived early to decorate the dated banquet room I was pleasantly surprised with the set up. Everyone had a nice place setting with a fancy folded napkin. That was the end of any happiness you would provide! When the guests started arriving at 6:30(the scheduled time) servers were not to be found. In fact, servers weren’t to be found for another 30 – 45 minutes! There was one gal in the bar taking FOREVER to serve up a couple of cocktails and GOD knows where everyone else was!!! I had to go up front and ask if we were going to be served. Then, I had to ask for water… WATER!!! I was handed ONE pitcher of water by the extremely rude short haired female at the front. I had about 25 – 30 people in the banquet room staring around at each other while I… yes I, poured their water. This is just ridiculous! So, when the food finally starting coming around 7:30 everything was rationed out like there was a famine! We were asked to group together so they could serve it easier… I can KINDA understand that but can’t you find a more polite way to ask? If I had known you would be so stern with the guests I would have gladly paid extra for additional egg rolls. I had one guest have to leave due to prior obligations at 8:00 and all he had was one bowl of soup… he was stopped on his way out and asked what he had eaten… COMEON! The food was just ok. My Dad’s favorite dish tomato beef was a hit with most of the people as it was gone lickity split. The Chinese chicken salad was dry and bland… nothing like I remember from the past. I will give you one star but it should only be a half of a star and that is because you let me bring in outside champagne for a toast with no corkage fee. I had made special labeled beer bottles as party favors that were going to be respectively handed out when people were leaving but the fact that there was NO drink service in the banquet room forced me to hand them out during dinner because that way the guests had SOMETHING to drink. I understand they had recently changed owners but the new owners already own a Chinese restaurant so there is no excuse for the poor execution of service and the outright RUDENESS we received. I didn’t express any of this to the«management» at the time because my Dad had a good time visiting with his friends and I didn’t want to be a downer but I know darn well it wouldn’t have made a hoot of a difference had I expressed my unhappiness. There wasn’t a single form of apology given for the bad service. I will NEVER visit this establishment ever again. I’d rather drive to Medford or Redding than step foot in there! Yreka is too small of a town to be running your business like that.

hmmmmmm… Hmmmmm…nothing like small town Chinese food. Pluses are that they are really Chinese owners. As far as authenticity… not much here except when you order won ton noodle soup. Otherwise be prepared for some good Americanized Chinese food. Order by numbers and as usual anything with Chow mein order the pan fried noodles unless you want the fried noodle bits.
