I love these folks. I always try to stop in for a chat before a hike, they always make excellent recommendations based on what I say I am looking for in a hike. Friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable– what more could you ask for in a ranger station?

I recommending stopping here before your next hike around Mt. Hood! This Ranger Station is great. Once inside, head straight toward the back to find a TON of useful trail maps for the surrounding area. The park rangers were very helpful are super knowledgeable about the area. This is the spot to buy your US Forest Service day($ 5) or yearly($ 30) pass. What impressed me the most though was their very clean restrooms(with hot water)! Currently, they are open 7 days a week.

This place is super helpful for day trips and mushroom hunting. All the people working there seem to love Mt. Hood.

I agree they are awesomely helpful at the station with all kinds of info, including shrooming sites. Yesterday I discovered yet another facet of their activities: there’s a man posted at Timberline lodge named Ian, who, when he’s not fighting wild fires, does the most awesome free tour of the lodge you could ever hope for. He is so personable, knows tons of stories about it, and says he never does the same tour twice! Someone should really capture him on video.

Brand new site. They’d been here 3 days when I visited. Forest Service run with lots of info. They were still moving in and getting the place set up. Super clean restrooms were a welcome addition(except for the metal toilet seats… brrr) Cool place to visit!
