Breakout games Aberdeen was our third attempt at an escape room game and was unfortunately the least enjoyable also. Having successfully escaped twice before(as just a couple) we were able to rope in my sister and her family to join us. The 5 of us(4 adults, 16 year old) went in with high hopes. Quick game summary: Go into room. It gets«locked». You solve puzzles and«escape» usually with a target time of an hour. 27 minutes of minimal enjoyment later we were out(a record at the time we were told). The issues we had with the game were as follows. 1. There was no real theme/plot. If you get a choice, always do one with a theme. 2. All/most of the puzzles we had seen before. But that’s not their fault i suppose. 3. Many of the puzzles within the game we just variants of the same puzzle.(substitution cypher) 4. 1 of the«locked» boxes had been accidentally left unlocked so we missed an entire step. My sister and her family(all first timers) said they had fun but thought it was too easy and ended up feeling unsatisfied. The end result? it was… okay. I wouldn’t say«don’t go» but if you want to go, make sure you get a group of 5 – 6 people and try one of their themed rooms. I think you’d get more enjoyment from just loosing then easily winning. If we were to go back we’d definitely try one of their«harder» rooms even if they are rated for 6 people. We have to remember that their ratings are all for«first timers» not experienced game players.
