This is a fantastic farm shop situated just outside Alcester, past Ragley Hall. It carries Ragley Estate Meats, which are reared on the adjoining Ragley estate. There are pork pies, excellent sausages, bacon, plus beef, pork and lamb. You can also buy game, and their own faggots. There is a fish shop(fish shack?) just outside the farm shop, open Tuesday to Saturday and selling a great range of fresh fish including skate. The main farm shop has plenty of seasonal items, including an extensive selection of soft fruit in season: strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants and the like. Try the tiny strawberries, which are absolutely delicious. There is a choose your own bar for salad leaves, so you can avoid those you hate. There is a good selection of locally grown tomatoes in season, also asparagus and other vegetables from the Vale of Evesham. In the deli section, there is a big refridgerated section for bacon, yoghurts and cream, plus tinned and bottled goods(sauces, condiments, soups etc), flour and nuts, biscuits both sweet and savoury and home made cakes. There is a rack of baskets offering bread baked on site(boules, baguettes, tin loaves, rolls), savoury pastries and scones. A staffed counter offers cold meats and pates, and there is a self-service counter for olives and sundried tomatoes. The cheese counter stocks a wide range of cheeses including Warwickshire Truckle, Shropshire Blue, Black Bomber and the like. On the site, there is also a gift shop, which has a stock ranging from inexpensive to rather expensive, including bargain books. There is a garden shop offering plants and garden ornaments, with an adjacent ice cream stand in summer. Finally there is a café, which does excellent and good value meals. In the summer, take a seat outside in the garden behind the café, under the shade of large canvas sails and the old oak tree. Order yourself a lovely salad served with new potatoes, and have your waitress tell you whether the robin that has just landed next to you is robin senior or junior(junior has the shorter tail). Just magic.
