I really like Costellos in Goose Green. Its really easy to find from the tram stop and the Goose Green area is really nice, especially in the summer. I’ve always been with large-ish groups and had no problem fitting everyone in. It is busier than a lot of places I’ve been outside of town, so that’s probably testament to its popularity. Price wise, its pretty reasonable. I usually have wine — sometimes red, sometimes rose, and always enjoyed the choice. It seems to have a good choice of beer/ales/lager(I don’t really know the difference between them) and the beer drinkers in the group seemed happy. They do also sell spirits etc but I think it is aimed at beer drinkers(a bit like Port Street Beer House in town really). Definitely recommend this place when out in Altrincham.

A friend had organised a birthday here so we headed down to celebrate. I’m not a fan to be honest. The selection of drinks, for me, was not what I wanted. I really struggled to find anything I wanted to have. I think this place is aimed at ale drinkers, not to be sexist but possibly blokes who aren’t looking for a nice décor or atmosphere or even comfy seats. I am looking for all those things and I certainly didn’t find them here. The staff were not very friendly and I felt like I was disturbing their evening by ordering. I won’t be back if I can avoid it.

Costello’s is a nice little place in the middle of Altrincham. Run by the Dunham Massey brewery, the ales are high-quality and cheap the perfect combination! The ales change throughout the year, and the Christmas ales are tastier than many others. The East India Pale Ale is a great example of a lovely ale, locally produced with pride. Interior is a bit plain, but lots of seats and plenty of atmosphere. 4 Stars.
