The Starving Man

When it’s a kebab, it’s donner, that’s my weakness. And these guys do a great donner. Also a lovely crew behind the counter.

I was staying at the Best Western in Altrincham. I got hungry around 1:30 am and didn’t have a car. I aimlessly walked around looking for a place to grab something to eat. This place was open and had really good kebab surprisingly. The banana smoothie was really tasty too.

Historically I’ve had problems with kebab shops, over the years I’ve regularly got food positioning from places like this but this place, I’ve visited about once a month for a number of years and its great! In fact the kebabs are seriously good, not dry or overly greasy (for kebabs). Only thing they could improve is to make the chilly sauce hotter (it’s nice but pretty tame)

You only need look at the positive reviews on the web to realise that this small, unassuming burger, pizza and kebab joint is an enduring classic with the locals. The reason being is the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. On the weekends it can get busy after hours as the pubs and bars empty and punters look for a quick bite, but everyone always seems in good spirits.
The highlights for me are the pizzas, which have a thin, crispy base, and the lamb kebab which is very simple, served with naan, fresh salad and yoghurt sauce. It’s good, honest food that you can’t go wrong with.

I have enjoyed The Starving Man in Altrincham on many occasions. I am an American who has a friend living in Hale/​Altrincham and we’ve had take away from here on every visit over… sometimes twice or more, hahaha! And let’s just say. I love English food, whether it’s take away, pub food, or a posh restaurant!
My frist trip to the Starving Man was the day I arrived from a month study tour in Lucca, Italy and was desperate for a burger… SOMETHING that wasn’t pasta or pizza! I had a burger and chips and it was pretty f — ing fit! I think I had fish n chips later in the week! MY FAVE!
The other visits have been purely in search of one thing… a kebab! YUM! You can’t really get anything like a good kebab in America (that I’ve found) and I enjoy them! A little lemon juice, ketchup and mayo! It’s the great ending to a night out or sitting around my friend’s kitchen table having a few glasses of vodka and a spliff!
Im back in a week and I’ll be sure to spend some of my «pound-​age» at the Starving Man!

Not done this one before a friend recommended it .we been decorating all week so we treated ourselves –pizza crust was really light, tsm special with everything on naan was dead tasty,(didnt think id get through it.)
Chips were a let down though and
trying to get through on the phone was a long wait-​order early on a friday. WELL WORTH IT
