Our multi-generational family group really enjoyed our meal here recently. They are a family-run restaurant specialising in traditional Lebanese and Syrian food. The menu is quite comprehensive to say the least, and not being *that* familiar with the cuisine of this region we opted for a few starter dishes we’d heard of(such as Babaghanouj) together with some others we hadn’t. Sharing everything was a great way to try multiple things and I’d recommend it here as there were some really tasty discoveries. For mains, most of us chose a kebab in one form or another, with separate servings of salad and rice(the Mujadara rice — whole lentils & rice cooked in vegetable oil & spices, topped with fried onions — was really good). As an added bonus, you can bring your own alcohol with you — the corkage is only £1 a bottle. They also stock a range of Lebanese wines and beers as well as some mainstream beers. Given how popular the restaurant was on a Sunday evening goes to show they cook and serve great food. We’ll definitely be returning here.

Fatty food weekend — Part 2 — Yara — Friday Night I went here on Friday night with 3 other ladies, and for those who may not have been for a while, this restaurant has been extended and has more seating. Note I said more seating and not space… they still cram lots of tables into this place so be prepared to be right up close to others and hear all their conversations! The food is actually really good, we had a yummy aubergine dip(can’t remember the name) and some houmous topped with lamb bits which was a nice change. The mixed grill was perfectly cooked and very juicy and they do a spinach and cheese parcel starter which was divine, as was the greek salad and mixed rice. Good points: Food is really good and well priced, its BYOB so it makes it more of a cheap night, its just in Altrincham(not really Hale) so just a tram ride away Bad points: It is quite crammed in(well upstairs it was) and the noise can make it hard to hear your own dinner guests, and I’m sorry to be mean but our waiter had quite bad body odour which left us all reeling when he leant over the table. Other than that, it was a tasty and fairly cheap night out.
