The South Downs is a huge area, spread over the south east of england. It is comprised of two areas of outstanding natural beauty(one of which surrounds the University of Sussex campus) and was also recently given National Park status. This park is really too vast for one review to do justice to it(it’s 70 miles east to west and 7 north to south). I walked in the downs around Sussex Uni’s campus and they really are quite beautiful — a walk, either on your own or with friends, is an absolute must if you’re living in this area. You’ll find woods, fields, hills, ponds, farm land and animals… and wander over to Falmer village one Sunday for a yummy roast in the village’s one pub. It’s a real privilege to have such a beautiful park on one’s doorstep — really magical for a bbq with friends as the sun sets.
