This isn’t really a furniture shop as far as i’m concerned. There are no sofas with gorgeous scatter cushions or pine and oak cabinets lining the walls. This is more of a contemporary, high end, home appliance and designer show home shop. God oh, that was a mouthful! They have the walls lined with glass cabinets which are filled with designer bits such as very posh tea light holders, oddly shaped vases, nifty looking little salt and pepper dispensers and stylish bins which could be mistaken for items from outer space. They are big stockists of the brand Menu which offers alternative designs on everything from outdoor lighting to wine bottle stoppers. My favourite two items in the shop are the funky dish tray for beside the sink — not the traditional bland colours but bright green and orange with bizzarre looking spikes — very cool. Also, I love the wobbly chess board where the pieces and the squares are all rounded to make it cool and a bit of a physics project. A great gift for a chess player. Very cool shop.

Super cool. I mean seriously chilly kinda cool. The label of ‘furniture shop’ really does Bombero no justice whatsoever. Furniture shops, in my opinion, are those bland, insipid places your parents used to drag you to for hours upon monotonous hours on end. At least mine did. Instead, Bombero is a sleek gift /designer homeware shop on Bangor’s High Street. Teeming with the trendiest goods in town, it will meet all your funky homeware needs. If giant glass vases are your thing, you’re sorted. If you’re ever in need of a quirky bottle opener, here’s the place to find it. Decided to invest in a huge retro centrepiece for your dining room table? Look no further. A super groovy flexible bookshelf — you bet. Just about every kind of light you can imagine… you got it. And as if all that wasn’t enough, there are luxurious jewellery pieces, such as ‘Mondaine’ watches, and wonderful gifts for the home, such as these incredibly cute ‘Anna G’ corkscrews. Everyone should have one. Excellent stuff, and all in this tiny little shop. Say goodbye to those mundane furniture stores and hello to Bombero.
