As other reviewers have said Woodsides is a mainstay of Bangor’s Main street, it has been in its location for as long as I can remember. Just noticed i said main a lot there… Woodsides pretty much sells everything, It is a place that I would go before going on holiday because it will do all the essentials. They recently had a great deal on sun screen which was great for me. Being ginger and in turn whiter than white, I only have to think about the sun and my skin starts to go red. Woodsides is a life saver and a money saver, I owe it my summer time freckles for protecting me against the UV rays. This pretty much sums up Woodsides!

Bangor is a fairly affluent place and there is a bit of money about but that is not to say that they particularly like spending money. In fact, in my experience working in various retail establishments they are a pile of cheap skates who don’t want to part with any money whatsoever. This is probably why this place does so well and has been around for so long. Woodsides has basically everything that you may need for very little money. You can get stationary, toiletries, shampoos, conditioners, pick and mix and file pads. Its an excellent place to stock up on a lot of things and there are even some ok brands that you might not expect to pick up in here. Its in Main Street so its nice and easy to get to and there is plenty of town centre parking around and the staff are polite and friendly. All in all a pretty decent wee discount shop that you can find plenty of bargains in if you are on a budget.

Woodsides brings out the big kid in me. Everytime I’m near it, I cannot resist the urge to go in and buy a whole lotta pic ‘n’ mix. Ooooh baby. At the ridiculously low price of 89p per 100g, it’s cheaper than the blinkin’ sweet shops for flip sake. Being in Bangor yesterday and requiring a bit of a sugar kick, I undoubtedly had pop in and buy some(ie. an absolute ton of sweets) from the wondrous Woodsides. Picking up a bowl, I helped myself to cola bottles, gummy bears, strawberries, cherries, a few more cola bottles, friendship rings, freaky fish, apple ballitas, more cola bottles for good measure… until I had filled my bowl to the brim. Taking it to the checkout, the cashier tipped my sweetie mountain into a bag and notified me that they had come to the grand total of £3.25. An absolute bargain, though I’m not so sure next month’s trip to the dentist is going to go as smoothly as first anticipated. If gummy sweets aren’t your thing, Woodsides has plenty more bargains to offer — everything from shampoo and hair accessories to notepads and stationery. I once picked up a pack of 7A5 notepads for 99p, and the quality of the paper was pretty good. I noticed yesterday that Alberto Balsam shampoo, which usually retails at at least 99p, was indeed 79p. Ooooh the excitement. The layout of Woodsides is what makes it unique. There are at least two or three serving areas, which have the checkout in the middle, surrounded by a rectangular area of goodies for your viewing pleasure. A definite favourite of mine, and a top-notch discount store.
