Do you like to read a book or do you prefer to barnet? The Nazis liked to burn books, but luckily the only club around here with lots of Nazi fans is Chelsea(booo), the Barnet fans are lovely and harmless and won’t sting you, even if they are known as the Bees. First-Hand Experience: I’ve seen Barnet play live 4 or 5 times, including 3 times at home, and I absolutely love them! They have a fantastic fan base and lovely bright orange kits. I most recently saw them just a few months ago in late 2014, and probably will again in 2016. They have been around since the late 1800s, and they play in bright orange, at «The Hive.» How can you seriously not love this team? What more do I need to say? The Hive has a capacity of 5,100 and is in North London. I hope they get back in the football league someday, they’re currently in the conference premier. Nice stadium too. They score a 5 for keeping it real all these years, I’m trying to create a buzz about the bees, what can I say.

I came here for a league away match with Cambridge. This was my first football match so will always have a special part in my heart. The terrace is incredibly close to the pitch and you know the opposing keeper hears every word of the chants. The concessions system here suck. They separate beer and food into different areas and they’re both served from a trailer behind the stands. The pisser is basically in a trailer as well. Though the match ended in a 2 – 2 draw I had a great time in these stands.

An unseasonably cold and wet night in July sees us make the arduous journey to Barnet FC to watch Tony Adam’s Gabala take on the local lads. The standard of football surpassed my expectations with some creative midfield play and some solid defending. Underhill stadium is easy enough to get to being just a short walk from High Barnet station and a stones throw from the Away Fans pub. The majority of the locals at the match were friendly and seemed to thoroughly enjoy their football. Barnet itself is a middle-class home-county suburban area and this is reflected through the fans with most wearing city attire as they pop in for a look on their route home. The most hilarious aspect of the ground though is the unusual advantage each team benefits from as they attack the home end. The Underhill is on a hill and instead of the pitch being levelled there is a 10ft variance in height as you run from end to end. This fact alone relegates Barnet FC to a two stars, is it so hard to build a football stadium with a flat playing surface? Also making the away fans stand on an open air terrace is a bit rich, come December I think it may be the worst away experience in League 2.

End of the Northern line and still in London but to me you could be in the countryside in the middle of nowhere. This local stadium definately needs some money put into it but maybe that will come in time as the Barnet team moves up the ladder. Tickets to league 2 games there are around the 15 quid mark and if you are supporting away teams this means standing room only and no seated tickets(which can have its advantages in that you can move around more). The thing I do like about this stadium and the lower leagues is the fact you can decide on the day that you want to go to a match.
