This is a great one to visit with children at easter, they have lots of different activities going on including an Easter egg hunt to guide you through the farm with a prize for each child at the end. There’s also sheep and ferret races throughout the day and a bird section where you can get up close and even hold some of them. There’s a big kids playground within the farm too. The fresh produce sold in the farm shop is delicious although a tad on the expensive side ranging from fresh meats, jams and pork pies so at the end of your visit you can pick up dinner too and save stopping off at the supermarket on your way home. Entry is a little steep at £7.95 each even for children over the age of 2 but there is a lot to do and you can easily make a whole day of it. There’s a large picnic area before entering the farm so you could always bring lunch along to eat before or after. Would definatley recommend to lovers of the outdoors!

I can feel myself pinging along at the moment. I’ve got an extra bounce in my step and it’s all because the joys of spring are around the corner. Goodbye cruel winter and hello to blooming flowers and more importantly little animals. Yes I love my little animals and so it’s a day on the farm with a borrowed child in tow. Cannon Hall Farm is a great example of a working farm. Set in the rolling hills of the Pennines you’ve got loads of different animals to look at. Not only do they have baby piglets, lambs and goats but you’ll also be able to see an Alpaca. Hoorah! It’s a chance for children to get up close and personal with the creatures and learn more about the world in which we live. There is also a great adventure playground to keep them(and me) entertained and you can grab something to eat at the tearoom or deli. Oh and the farm shop is pretty impressive as well. Fantastic day out for all and animals aplenty.

A fascinating museum full of adventure and facts which will fill your imagination which history of joy. The house is dated but I believe it makes the adventure that extra bit more special for you. It is a lovely place to visit along side the Cannon Hall Open Farm for a day out with your family! Well worth the drive, would recommend!

This is a lovely old buildilg used in the recent series ‘lost in austen’. You can wander round the beautiful gardens by the river or inside the magnificent old house. There is a fantastic collection of old costumes and some lovely old furniture. There is a garden centre across the road and the lovely open farm and teashop at the side. A lovely day out. Dont forget the bread for the ducks.

I’ve been here many times, and it’s always good. It’s developed quite a lot in the last few years — the main attraction used to be Cannon Hall, with the farm a small attachment where you could buy food to feed the animals, but now there is a café, a shop, a playground. However, it hasn’t lost its family feel and is definately worth a visit. The animals are well cared for and friendly, and children can learn a lot about them. I did go in the hall when I was younger, don’t remember a lot about it other than a doll’s house that I loved and bought a postcard of. Don’t miss the grounds either — they are huge, and there’s a lovely picnic area(with extra parking and an ice cream van) down by the river, in easy walking distance. My extended family used to meet here, take a picnic and play rounders before going up to the farm!

This has been around for ever but is still a hit with adults and kids. The farm is part of a great day out for kids and adults and is surrounded by a wonderful park where you can feed ducks and geese and walk dogs and have picnic and everything really you can do in a park! Great day out for adults and kids

Really great place to go to well worth a visit. There are loads of animals to see, and you can arrange a guided tour. Need to leave a full day free to go though as there is so much to get around and things to see, and the outdoor play areas are a big attraction for children too.

I have been here with my children and a school trip with them. The animals are good and when we went with school we had a guide which was good as it gave the children information about the animals and gave them the chance to touch the animals and feed them. The museum is also a good place to visit and the farm shop offers and good range of fresh food.

A fabulous family day out! The kids can feed & pet the animals & play in the fab play areas. My children love going here. There’s also a café /restaurant & farm shop outside the paying area. We’ve also been to a birthday party here.

This is a working farm, you can buy animal feed at the entrance to feed the animals as you walk around. There are loads of different animals from Guinea pigs to Llamas, horses, piglets, donkeys, calves, goats etc. It covers a wide area — there is lots to do The café is great with a large selection of food and drink — it does become uncomfortably busy during the school holidays. Another bonus is the farm shop which has a great selection of meat, cheese, toys gifts etc. A whole day out.
