Good solid Indian place to try if you’re in the area. Lamb bhuna was touted as ‘medium’ spice — could have been slightly spicier but still tasted good. Nan bread was great without a trace of excess oil. It’s BYO with no option to buy onsite so pop across to the Spar across the road before sitting down.

I stayed for two nights in Bath just up the street from Desh and got takeout from them both nights. One night I got sweet dishes(korma and peshwari naan) and the other night savory(saag and garlic naan). Both times the food was fresh, hot, and very tasty. It’s very reasonably priced, too. For around £11 you can get an appetizer, entrée with rice, and naan. The only disadvantage is it’s far from the city center, but if you’re staying nearby, definitely check them out.

the fact you can bring your own alcohol is good. the somewhat predictable menu is a little boring but all well cooked and reasonably priced.

Round the corner from my friends’ pad in Bath, Desh is always our first choice for a curry and a dvd night in. Operating as both a restaurant and a takeaway, I prefer it as the latter. Their curry house standards such as dhansak, korma and jalfrezi always seem to taste better out of the crinkly foil containers than they do on a plate. That said, as a BYOB restaurant(with a conveniently situated off-licence on the other corner) it is about as cheap and cheerful as you could hope for in a local eatery. And the staff always remain cool, calm and collected in the face of(too) much brought-our-own booze. For which I shall always be grateful.
