I was on vacation during summer in Bath and on the lookout for a great café! I enjoy a good latte, and not only did Riverside Café have that, but the view of the river and the cool breeze while I drank it outside made the whole experience very pleasant. The price of the drink was a little more than I would normally like to pay(£2.30) but I’ll give them a break since they’re located near a tourist attraction. Back in the small town in USA where I live it’s hard to find a good, old-fashioned café. We have a Starbucks but that’s about it. Riverside Café was a wonderful experience for me while in Europe, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a quaint café with lots of character. I was alone when I went to visit the café, so if you’re going as part of a party of 3 or more, sit inside. The outdoor terrace is not very wide(I would say about 5 feet), and it can get quite crowded very easily.

It does some pretty fine food, especially for either breakfast or lunch — I’ve been here a few times. I would recommend siting inside, because sitting out on the tiny terrace right by the weir is more hassle than it’s worth with people trying shuffle past you and knocking your elbows when they’re heading to and from the riverside walk.

Great café for a late breakfast(although they stop taking orders at 11.30) Particularly recommend the eggs Benedict. Good location along the river bank. On a Bath Rugby Match Day go early it can get busy. They also do Lunches which look great. The menu often contains Sticky Toffee Pudding — which I must have someday.

This review just echoes blondie 1’s below. Riverside Café is just a hole in the wall, a cave entrance almost hidden from view opposite Grand Parade. Disappear down the little footwell steps on the right, on the far side of Pulteney Bridge from Bath centre and walk round the terrace pathway to find the entrance. Inside is a reasonably spacious café, jolly and busy. But, best of all, are the outside tables and seats on the path or even better, those back round the corner on the small terrace area overlooking the weir, almost underneath the beautiful Pulteney Bridge and with wonderful views of the imposing buildings opposite on Grand Parade and beyond. Location, just excellent. Make friends with the constant stream of passers by. And the food and drinks not bad either, good quality café grub, lovely salmon and eggs benedict for instance and the fresh coffee is nice and strong and smooth. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive service(can be a bit slow if very busy), with good clean toilets too. Highly recommended.
