Excellent hotel, well located in Bath. Service is outstanding as the staff leaped to meet any request. Grounds(the garden) are charming and the whole property has an excellent feel. Rooms are spacious and well appointed and the restaurant was very good, even if a step behind the Olive Tree. Gym and spa are also excellent. The place to stay in lovely Bath.

The Royal Crescent is one of the finest hotels I have visited. The staff, the food, the spacious and beautiful rooms, and the outstanding garden are just perfect. We were very reluctant to leave and can’t wait until our next visit!

It is not every day(or even year) that I cross the Atlantic to partake of some English culture so when my aunt and I decided to venture to Bath for a short visit we knew we wanted to make the most of it. The Royal Crescent was a memorable experience, even though we did have difficulty finding the hotel itself seeing as how the roads were one way and signage sparse once we got into Bath from Southampton. By the time we had located the hotel– thanks to a very helpful cabbie — we were more than ready to check out the luxurious surroundings that would be ours for the two days of our stay and regroup before making our reconnaissance of Bath. I will point out that the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment program, making the spa off limits, except by appointment. This was not a deal breaker, as the purpose of our visit was to soak up some culture and take in the sights. The room that we stayed in appeared by all counts to have been refreshed, seeing as how it boasted a large, flat-screen wall mounted television. The décor featured soothing, if muted, grays and purples, along with flower arrangements throughout. We enjoyed seeing the adjoining gardens. As we were located just a few doors away from No. 1 Royal Crescent, an historic Georgian town house that was the first house to be built in the Crescent, we took the opportunity to have a look around. The hotel staff were very helpful and unfailingly polite throughout our visit. We would have liked to have sampled the afternoon tea, but we did find the breakfasts were quite good. On the one night that the rain curtailed any evening outings, we decided to stay in and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel bar, especially the excellent martini which I understand is not always easy to come by in England. This is definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I am glad that I had the opportunity to view aspects of Bath, both historic and modern, through the lens of this top quality hotel.

We stayed here for a weekend in the classic Elizabeth Linley suite. The staff were very polite and helpful especially when we were checking in. However when we got in our suite we were not very pleased as it looked like it was really ready for a refurb. The t. v was way too small, the bed coverings and the bed head very stained and the room had a very distinct odour which I suspected was coming from the restaurant down stairs. The breakfast was good enough. We used the bath house which was not too bad, my fiancé enjoyed the pool and I did not mind the steam room. All in all a nice stay but perhaps a bit expensive.

This review is for afternoon tea only(served from 3−5pm). Service was professional, courteous, and prompt. All the servers were well-trained(duh! It’s the Royal Crescent Hotel). And the server who brought out the tea gave a lengthy and sensuous(if I may use that adjective) explanation of the origin and taste of our teas. We had ordered the Royal Crescent Afternoon tea: 35 pounds per person and comes with a selection of finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries, scones, tea or coffee and a glass of champagne. Everything was just alright. It was evident that nothing had been freshly prepared, no interesting ingredients used. The baked goods were from yesterday or very early that morning. And the tea was alright; I think the explanation hyped it up too much because we were disappointed when we realized it tasted like every other tea we had ever had. Also, the place where the tea is served is kind of disappointing. Just a few tables placed awkwardly in the lobby of one of the wings of the hotel. Not a separate tea room or even a section in the restaurant. There are people coming and going, which is very distracting. Not the relaxing tea experience I had hoped for. Location, taste of food and tea are not worth the time and money.

definitely a special occasion venue but the suite we stayed in was sensational. it made the moment of proposing so very special. the spa facilities are also worth exploring although not the most exceptional they are a good way to end the day. food was of the same standard as you would expect. very high. all in all an experience worth repeating.

Top quality hotel with top quality food. Excellent for business meetings. Part on Von Essen that have Hunstrete House, Homewood Park and Ston Easton in the Bath /Bristol area.
