This review is for lodging. We stayed at White Hart two nights in June 2015. It’s a very short walk from the train station and central Bath. We were happy with the accommodations, but we’re also reasonable and we take cost into consideration. Lodging in Bath is scarce and expensive. You can stay here and pay a quarter what you’ll pay at Bath’s upscale hotels. Our room had its own bathroom. It was small, dowdy and a little dusty… but we only used it for sleeping so we didn’t mind. The staff checked us in, got us situated, then got back to running the pub. We didn’t expect concierge service at these prices, so we were not disappointed. Noise from the pub was not a problem. Wifi included. The lodging(some of it dorm style) is on the second floor and there is no elevator so be prepared to haul your luggage up a flight. Keep your expectations in line with your budget and you’ll like this place. If you want luxury, attentive service or amenities, stay elsewhere and pay a lot more.

I booked in for a meal last weekend, and couldn’t have been more surprised. The food was incredible, excellent gastrobup fare. With the excellent location close to the centre of Bath makes the WH one of my new favourites in Bath!

If you don’t mind being treated badly by rude and incompetent staff, The White Hart is the place for you. This eatery was highly recommended to my new wife and I by the proprietor of the B&B we were staying at in Bath, and we booked a table for 7.45 on Monday 27 June 2011. On arrival, rather than being shown to our table, its general direction was given by a woman dressed as a waitress. We found the table thanks to a chalkboard with my surname on it. There were no menus, so we sat and waited for something to happen. Nothing did. As it was quite hot we gained the attention of the waitress who had ‘welcomed’ us and asked whether we could sit outside. She said there would be no problem, but she might not be able to serve us, so we’d probably be best ordering at the bar. At this point we told her we didn’t have menus, so she shoved one into my wife’s hands. After finding a table outside, I returned indoors to order a couple of drinks at the bar. There were a group in front of me being served, but when it came to my turn the barmaid disappeared. She returned with a bottle of wine, and whilst opening it asked what I wanted. I told her, but apparently my request was too complicated for her to deal with at that point and she disappeared again. The original excuse for a waitress appeared a short time afterwards and told me she would be with me in ‘just a moment’, then she disappeared again. I waited for a few minutes longer then fetched my wife from the garden and left. Read the reviews on TripAdvisor to get a more realistic overview of The White Hart, then take your hard-earned money into the centre of Bath where there are plenty of places with great food and staff that can be bothered.

A nice place to stay when you’re in Bath. I stayed in a hostel-type dorm room, but the occupancy was relatively low(four beds), and I was the only one staying in the room at that time(early spring). I enjoyed the proximity to the Bath Skyline walk and to the train station. The kitchen downstairs is very convenient if you want to store some food and use a real kitchen with dishes and cookware. Great garden out back. Overall, a good alternative to a large hostel.

I feel a bit sorry for the below reviewer as this place has become our local in many ways and in all the years I’ve been going I’ve only ever had one average meal. I must have had 30 – 40 great ones. It has a really relaxed atmosphere, great food and a sun trap garden. It’s also a really flat easy walk from town(and a short stumble home). I expect the below reviewer caught them at a busy time or maybe the waitress was having a bad day, byt generally this place is fantastic and comes highly recommended by many local people. It’s worth noting that they stop food a 2pm on a Sunday and if you want to eat you almost certainly have to book.
