Great staff good value food. I asked for my pizza to be crispy at edges and it was perfect. Lovely evening was had by all if us.

Battle is a lovely town but it’s dining does tend towards the cream tea & after a loaf on nearby Normans Bay we needed something more substantial!!! The restaurant is in a large, old coaching inn and is very much in the vein of Pizza Express et al. It was a good menu & my chilli pizza was vicious superhot!!! The secret was in their specials board all local fish based. Mrs Idler had a tasty crab & rocket starter & a fine salmon & port mains my advice is to look for the fish at this place. Very good indeed. One point dropped because my red wine was more Sarsons than Shiraz.

Stopped in Simply Italian whilst visiting the area. We wanted to take the weight of our feet, get some refreshment and maybe some dolce.
I was somewhat surprised that a restaurant/​eatery of this standard was situated in such a small place. Unfortunately, we didn’t have dinner here, but I did sample their cheesecake, which was worth every single calorie! Yes. it was REALLY worth E-​V-​E-​R-​Y S-​I-​N-​G-​L-​E C-​A-​L-​O-​R-​I-​E — even if it did mean that I would have to spend over an hour and a half on the rowing machine to burn it off. It was simply THE best cheesecake that I have ever had. The espresso was also excellent.
The cheesecake alone is probably worth the excuse of visiting this neck of the woods when I’m back home in the UK.
They also serve pre-​antipasti, antipasti, pasta, pizza, insalate and a decent selection of vino.
