A while ago, I treated a good friend of mine to a Trial Microlight Flight for his birthday. I got kudos as he declared it the best birthday present he’d ever had!
Living over in Suffolk at the time, I chose the Beccles Flying Club as it was handy to get to (albeit out in the sticks, but you know what I mean!). The tuition was totally one-​to-​one, the setting comfortable and down-​to-​earth and the staff simply couldn’t have been more helpful.
I sat on the ground and watched with heart-​in-​throat as the tiny little microlight took off and soared impossible high into the sky, and then veered off into the evening sun. There’s not a chance in hell you’d have gotten me up in one of those things!
But my mate was a more adventurous soul than I, and said it was utterly exhillarating from start to finish, wanted to do it again, wanted to buy his own microlight, etc and all the things that men decide when they’re enamoured with a new ‘rush’ ^_​~
So if you have someone with a spirit of adventure and who isn’t scared of heights this is the sort of present that they’ll simply never forget.
Send them off, hand them your camera to take some cool ariel shots, and sit outside in the little clubhouse garden with a coffee and a good book until they buzz back down to earth!
