Lovely BYO restaurant that turns into a take away after hours. Myself and 2 friends went here on a Saturday night and I was pleasantly surprised to find the meal so tasty and filling. I was dining with vegetarian friends so decided to go with the flow and have a meat free meal which was not a mistake(in fact the meat dishes were a lot dearer than I would of expected in a place like this) food was gorgeous and extremely filling — home made hummus for starters was to die for and I ended up keeping it on the table throughout the meal to dip into. A hidden gem

After seeing so many positive on Unilocal we decided to give Byblos a go, to be honest I couldn’t recall if I’d ever had Lebanese food before so I was excited at the prospect. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived and this allowed us to pick our table and have a good nosey at the décor. The restaurant has an glass front meaning you can see out on to the street and passersby can see in. They have old wooden tables and a few traditional Middle Eastern items dotted around, but nothing overboard. The whole place could do with a bit of sprucing up in my opinion, but nothing too drastic. It is what it is! On to the food, for starters I ordered olives. I was expecting a tiny dish to nibble away at but ended up getting a huge bowl along with a load of pickles. For main I ordered the beef. It came on skewers along with salad and some flat bread. The beef itself was expertly cooked and full of flavour. It was as good as steaks I’ve paid top dollar for. The service was relaxed but efficient. One disappointment was the fact that the restaurant was pretty much empty meaning there was no real sense of atmosphere. For the décor etc I would give 4 stars but for the food it’s a definite 5! BYO and no corkage is a massive bonus. Can’t wait to go back when it’s busier!

The food was very tasty and portions are hugh. So not for the faint hearted. Good location with loads of bars etc close by. But give me a paint brush and I could give the place a well deserved overhaul. A pop of colour could make all the difference to the décor. Sadly it’s lacking… anything to be honest. But the food and the staff can’t be faulted. Would go back and it’s byo. Food was too notch. Maybe next time I’ll leave them a few colour charts and fabric swatches.

I visited Byblos recently with friends and enjoyed it immensely. I had a beautiful halloumi cheese starter on salad which was spicy and full of flavour — absolutely delicious. For main I tried the Falafels which were very good. Byblos is a BYOB restaurant with a lovely tranquil vibe.

Really enjoyed my first visit to Byblos Lebanese restaurant last night. It’s a refreshing change from the norm and it was lovely to dine on such fresh, healthy, tasty food after the overindulgence of Christmas. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy but is casual, relaxed and clean with delightful service, good prices and currently no corkage charge for BYOB. I was with a couple of friends and we ordered three starters of Hommous, Baba Ganouje(puréed roast aubergine with tahini, lemon juice and garlic) and chargrilled Halloumi on salad. These came with Lebanese bread and all tasted delicious and flavoursome. All three of us had the Falafel main which was served with more beautiful Lebanese bread, salad and a fresh, tangy sauce. We finished by sharing a dessert of super sweet, fabulous Baklava(okay that’s a lie — I ate all the Baklava myself!). Overall a scrumptious meal which we throughly enjoyed. We were amused to pass Byblos later on, as we saw they had removed the tables, closed off half the restaurant and were operating as a late night takeaway. We had to resist the temptation to pop in again and order even more delicious dishes! Would highly recommend Byblos for a relaxed, delicious dining experience. I will definitely return and can see this place become a regular eatery for me.

Byblos is a really average lunch-and-dinner spot near the Europa. The food’s a bit bland and a bit sparse — the falafel that I had was dense and dry and spread over a scattering of iceberg lettuce and pale bland tomatoes. Everyone was really nice. I’d probably suggest going at lunch as they seem to have a decent range of specials. But only, really, if you’re passing.

I was pretty keen to find a good Lebanese restaurant in Belfast, as I was after some traditional middle eastern grill. The staff at Byblos are pleasant enough, and the atmosphere is simple. However unfortunately I was not impressed by the quality of the food. Being from middle eastern decent, and having experienced great Lebanese restaurants in many other cities, Byblos was a let down for me. The mezes were mediocre and the grill was not that great. I also was insulted to be given tortilla wraps, rather than lebanese bread… I hate to right such a review, but unfortunately I was far from pleased with the experience. I also can’t believe that their is no other Lebanese restaurant in the whole of Belfast, it’s really a shame as the cuisine is amazing.

After visiting Lebanon last year I was delighted to hear about a Lebanese restaraunt in Belfast. I loved the food there. I’ve been here twice in 2 weeks. Very friendly staff & the premises are immaculate. Very reasonably priced & you can BYO with no corkage fee. I was a bit dissapionted that the chicken legs & wings were not available both times. Think the menu could be a little better as there aren’t that many options & I have had the lamb twice. Overall, great though & I willl definitely be back!

Loads of people had told me good things about this place and being new to the wonders of Lebanese cuisine I was keen to give it a try. The first thing that struck was on approach to the restaurant the gorgeous smell of spices and grilling meat. I got the inkling I was going to enjoy this dining experience. The greeting was very warm inside and it was pretty busy despite only having turned noon. We got straight to business with some starters of grilled halloumi and chicken wings both of which were expertly spiced and unbelievably moreish. The main courses seem to be various different grilled meats all which sounded mouth-watering. I had an unpronounceable chicken dish which came with rice, salad and kind of nan bread. All of it was delicious and the portions where more than generous. If you’re looking for something a bit different and want to eat great quality food at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. Pros: BYO and lunch time specials. Cons: None today!

Byblos — to my knowledge, the only eaterie in Belfast to claim to be Lebanese. When it first opened, I thought that it would never last, that the good people of my home town would never, ever go for Lebanese stuff, that they would walk straight past it to the nearest McDonald’s. Of course, I was wrong, and my narrowed views of my fellow townsfolk need reviewing. This place has been thriving for many a year. I’m in about once a month, usually. I think I’ve tried everything on the menu, and my favourite thing by far is the Tawouk — it’s essentially a skewered chicken & mushroom kebab, served on this gorgeous Lebanese flatbread with crispy fresh salad and garlic sauce. I’ve always tried to pluck up the courage to ask either of the two(sound as a pound) brothers who run the place what they marinade the chicken in, and how they keep it so soft once it’s cooked. But they’d probably just laugh and tell me it’s a trade secret, or an ancient family recipe. I confess that I’m a terrible food snob and wouldn’t usually think of eating a kebab. But what you get here, if you order a main course, is essentially that. And it’s delicious. Byblos is one of my favourite places to eat in Belfast and I’d heartily recommend it without a second’s hesitation.

As I’m fond of Middle Eastern food, especially felafels, I had been keen to try out Byblos for some time. I eventually got there for lunch which for £3.99 or £3.50 with a drink compares very favourably to sandwiches. Unfortunately, though, I was a little disappointed with the falafel which was rather bland, dry and lacking in sauce and salad. Nor was I impressed by the bought chips it came with either, I’d rather do without and have a better falafel and salad. For the moment I’m going to reserve a definative judgement until I’ve tried some of the other options such as chargrilled chicken breast and lamb marinated in spices, preferably washed down with a bottle of my own wine which can be brought along as well.

A middle eastern extravaganza. Well, that may be pushing this restaurant’s boat out a little too far but this place certainly is worth a trip. Focusing on Lebanese cuisine this place has an awful lot on offer. Myself and my girlfriend landed in after a typical Belfast soaking while out shopping. There’s quite a mix of clientèle, from young families to businessmen out for that important business dinner. For starters we kept it simple. A big whack of freshly made hummous and a chunk of well seared halloumi cheese. Both very tasty, served with a nice glass of rioja. For mains it was a beef Shawarma. Essentially beef marinated and served with pitta, salad and a combination of condiments. Very tasty and moreish. Lots of rich silky spicing, rich and hearty at the same time. Pretty reasonable, it all came to around £30 with a couple of glasses of plonk brought in by ourselves. The place is certainly worth a visit if you’re in the vicinity, perhaps after a few Belfast Ale’s at the Crown bar? Who knows, but it’s definitely a worthy addition to Belfast’s increasing number of ethnic restaurants.

Very nice Lebanese food such as humous and falafel and beautifully cooked chicken — fresh and tasty, but not a big selection. Bring-your-own with an off-license across the street which is handy. The décor is very plain and simple — which is nice, and the place is absolutely spotless. Prices are reasonable and the staff are helpful and friendly.
