I’m a big fan of supporting local retailers, particularly pharmacists. They do a huge public service to local residents by providing them with the prescriptions they need and being within walking distance of local GP’s, meaning they are accessible to those who find walking difficult i. e the elderly. Crossans’ is no exception. Owned by the same propietors of Crossan’s Opticians’ next door, the staff are friendly and have everything you could possibly need regarding medicine and personal health. So you can’t really complain.

Crossins Chemist is situated just on the Antrim Road, close to the Waterworks. It’s been there for as long as I’ve been here. The staff know all their locals very well and will always go to get them their prescriptions and regular products before they even have to ask. This works out for my because my mums a Ceoliac and asking for bread in a chemist makes me look nuts! They sell a lot of products, from beauty to hygiene to house hold cleaning products. They need to make their money from as many things as possible to survive the threat of the big chain stores. It’s an old school pharmacist in that people come in and talk to him before they go to the Doctor, and he usually knows exactly what they need for their ailments.
