Emerald City

There were scary stories about this Chinese, and although it’s a while ago that I ate here, and I’ve heard that it may have improved a little, I really had the most horrific experience here. I was on a night out with friends and was actually not having a drink (I feel I have to stress that because it will be apparent later why that is important) and we had a takeaway from here — I just had the usual ‘curry split’ — half rice, half chips, smothered in thick curry sauce. It went down okay I have to say — it was tasty enough.
Shame was, it came straight back up again.
Then the sweats started… and the shakes.
This all happened instantly. It was gross. My friends weren’t too amused by my public regurgitation as I’m sure the inhabitants of the Dublin Road were either.
I wholeheartedly blame this Chinese for my dodgy tummy and public humiliation. Don’t go there.

I’m going to give Emerald City 3 stars as it could go either way depending on whether you’re drunk or sober.
Emerald City is known as the Chinese takeaway you go to when you’re too drunk to actually taste the food. So if you’re pished, it’ll be a 5 star rating. If you’re sober, it’ll be 1 star. So I’ll compromise and give it 3.

I don’t wish to give one star reviews because my one-​star experience could be another person’s five-​star experience. However, I can safely guarantee this is pretty much unanimous. This «restuarant» is grim, the food is bland, the staff watch you as you eat which is quite off putting, the décor outside is so dull and boring… They do have an offer of 3 lunch courses for £7.50 so if you have a hangover and a chinese craving then tot along. If you like chinese food, avoid

its been a while since i was here but when i was the food was delicious if a little pricey and atmosphere was good staff where a little abrupt but we didnt let it ruin our night.

Not a bad chinese. big meals but the staff are rude to say the least last time i visited i was rushed to place a order and then swore at by the owner!!! wouldint reccomend them unless you really are starving!
