Hotplate Noshery

After missing out on several invites to try this place, I called in for lunch.
Located in the upstar is of a bar, it’s easy to pass this place by. You would be a fool too. First of the prices are really decent, with steak burgers from £8!
The décor is bare chic and is on trend with many of the new restaurants sporting this style. I ordered a steak burger. When the food arrived it was literally a massive steak sliced into manageable pieces.
The service was great with the waiter enjoying a bit of banter with us when we arrived. Be sure to check in on Unilocal also before you order. Turns out the have a free starter, which i didn’t realise until after I ordered. Damn! Lol
I absolutely loved the food here and everything about the visit. You must try this place out. I’ll definitely be back.

Today was my second visit to hotplate and the it couldn’t have been more different than the first.
The first time the food was excellent, I mean really good, but the whole experience was ruined by the absolutely deafeningly awful medley of ABBA and Dolly Parton songs being played to the 5 old men in Cosgrove’s bar below. Weird. That was Friday night.
Today, we played it safe and went for lunch. There was no awful music pumping, just classic soft restaurant music. Also 2 tvs — one showing the big bang theory, and the other showing the racing! Nice touch!
I’d had the El Diablo burger before and it was so good I had to order it again.
The first time, the burger and pulled beef were so good and succulent. This time, it was just tasteless. I also ordered the mac and cheese as a side and it was awful. A really bland — plastic like cheese coating pasta. The fries on the other hand were great and the accompanying sauces are pretty good.
I’m gonna put today’s burger down to a bad day at the office as the first time it was so good. If they managed to get environment and cooking right at the same time, this place would be awesome.
Also, you get an absolute shed load of grub for a very reasonable price.

Was ok. Though was expecting more from what I had heard.
Staff where nice.
People where cleaning when we arrived. Toilet was unclean and floor was super slippy. Loved all the choice of soaps. I opted for raspberry Tango.
The burger meat was nice. A nice combination of salty yet moist.
It was probably the best bit of the food experience. Mac and cheese wasn’t nice at all. Chips where nice enough. Was expecting bigger from what I had heard. Burger also wasn’t too warm.
