It is just a local news agents so it’s hard to really be critical about this place. It sells all the daily local and national news papers. On top of that it sells all the products that you might run out of in the house and don’t want to venture to a super market to get. What more can I say? If you want a lottery ticket, then go there. Otherwise there’s nothing to write home about.

A strange shop, or is it a shop? It left me a little confused as to what I was actually doing there to be honest. Slap, bang in the middle of Botanic Avenue, Local Express could very easily be overlooked as it stands between an array of shops all vying for the customer’s attention. It offers all the usual, confectionary(which I found incredibly difficult to walk past!), newspapers both national and regional and the cupboard basics like milk and sugar. However, looming in the store was the option to use a Western Union money transfer. Strange, but useful. The Western Union allows money to be transferred all over the world which is very useful for people living in Belfast who have families in different countries, especially if those living and working in Belfast are supporting needs such as childcare, health or education. All in all, a useful shop for some, a quick nip in and out again will sort both money transfers and a pint of milk.

This is one of those little local newsagenty types shops that you don’t think twice about as you call in to buy a coke or the paper or a packet of cigarettes(ok not cigs as I don’t smoke but other items) but it’s there and it’s in the local community. This shop sells all manner of daily regional, national and local weekly papers along with the usual gaggle of soft drinks, snacks, basic food items and is also a tobacconist. One this this business does different is that it has Western Union money transfer. With the expanding population from abroad this service is becoming more and more widely used in the city and more and more small retailers appear to be taking it on. If you need to send cash, buy a paper or grab a pint of milk and you’re in the Botanic area then this is your place, don’t expect anything more though.
