Let’s get this straight — the Park View Bar is located in EAST Belfast. As a matter of fact, it’s directly across the street from a UVF mural. That being said, it’s our neighborhood dive. It’s got cheap drinks and friendly locals. Guinness runs for around £2.20 for a pint. The first time we visited, I was lamenting the fact that I couldn’t get a ploughman’s sandwich. Hearing of my plight, two of the locals promptly ran out to the Spar across the street and bought me a block of cheese. Now, that’s hospitality. The bar has recently had a paint job from the hideous orange and blue color scheme it previously had to a more palatable brown and white one. The building used to be a coach inn back in the olden days, and you can see some of the beauty still left in the building. Maybe one day someone will help the Park View realize it’s true potential as a pub. Until then, you can always get the locals to buy you cheese.
