The man who owns this shop came to my aid last December and that’s why I’ll go back this December. Oh, in case you think I only buy fruit or vegetables once a year, I should clarify that this is where I buy my Christmas trees. Last year, the cold rain was literally dripping off the end of my nose when I called in to pick a tree. It was one of the most cold and wet days last year and that’s saying something. So there I was, not feeling particularly festive but having promised the nippers I would get a tree, when my faith in man kind and the festive season was restored, with bells on. The kind and lovely owner patiently helped me pick a tree and then put it in the car for me while the rain pelted down. As he doesn’t have a switch card machine, he also agreed to take a cheque from me which must have been a pain for him. I also threw in a couple of lovely fresh holly wreathes and went on my way feeling much more Christmass-y. Parking is a little awkward as this shop is on a main and busy road which is the only thing that stops me calling in more often for the fruit which looks somehow more fresh and wholesome that the heaps of stuff in Tesco. But come December, I’ll be there.
