The Thinking Cup serve good coffee, tray bakes, soups and sandwiches. It’s a café with a traditional vibe and makes a nice change from all the coffee chains currently dominating Belfast. There are loads of plugs placed beside tables so you can charge your phone while sipping your coffee plus a secondhand bookstore and reading room upstairs. A very good place to relax and chill in.

Wow. Such a find. Great vibe in here. Though sweet stuff on show does it no favours. They did not seem nice enough to sample. Savoury food looked good though. Looks like a standard café downstairs. Upstairs is where the magic happens. There is a secluded quiet reading room on one level with nice glass see through wall to see people hard at work. The other level is like a library with books you can buy. The space is nicely fresh finished, bright and modern. Seems to be popular here with students. They have outdoor seating. Wifi inside. This is a social enterprise.

I walked past The Thinking Cup a few weeks ago on my way to a meeting and I knew immediately that it was a place I wanted to chill and do some work for a few hours. So today I finally managed to visit and, yes it was everything I wanted it to be! This is a place that actively encourages visits from Wifi sappers like myself, there’s plenty of plugs and as eluded to super fast wifi. The best thing about The Thinking Cup is that it’s still relatively unknown in the area so if you’re looking for peace and quiet then look no further. I grabbed a flat white and a cherry scone, I ordered at the counter and was told to take a seat and the helpful server would bring it to me, I like unexpected table service! The flat white was just the right level of bitter and the scone was just the right level of beautness. The have a huge range of cakes available but as I visited pre 10am I thought it was best not to start another day with 500 plus calories. There’s a lunch menu plastered on the wall too, it includes Soups, Bagels and regular sandwiches. With a book store upstairs and comfortable seating throughout I wouldn’t be surprised if The Thinking Cup quickly became a student hangout. Give it a visit — I imagine the light airy interior would be the perfect place to wind down on a lazy weekend morning.
