Though I was only having a cup of coffee in Uel’s I was made to feel perfectly welcome and it was a very fine one too. At time most people were having late breakfasts but there is an interesting menu with good fresh sounding dishes especially of fish, seafood and meat with an emphasis on local ingredients for later on in the day. It’s comfortable, modern and bright with shiny black tables and cream padded seating. There’s no licence but you can bring your own wine. I have tried to eat here already but like a lot of restaurants around there it’s shut on a Monday evening when I previously looked in.

Uel’s is a lovely small restaurant based on the Upper part of the Lisburn road. It prides itself on fresh produce cooked to order and I must say they do manage it. They offer Breakfast, Lunch, Light Bites and a great evening menu so they do cater for every time of day. We popped in after taking a long dander up the Lisburn road doing a spot of shopping and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was. Its very contemporary and modern without feeling cold and sterile. The waitress seated us straight away and took our drink order, which was great. The menu was good too, offering things like burgers, all day breakfast, scampi, salads and wraps. I went for the scampi and my friend the retro chicken Maryland. Both were served promptly(not worryingly so) and the standard was really great. Prices were pretty reasonable too considering the area and you can expect to pay about £6-£7 for a main. The scampi was so nice I could have gone for seconds and the chicken Maryland looked divine and my friend was impressed! Needless to say, plates were cleared and I’m certain we will be back to try out the evening menu or even the breakfast menu where I spotted pancakes… mmmmm
