This place has always been a bit clicky as although yes it does have it regulars the same ones for many years(which yes is a good thing these days) but the customers and staff only seem to speak to each other as if they are some sort of secret organisation(maybe they are Freemasons). Anyway when new customers come in, they are completely ignored and make you feel like ‘who the hell are you’ There is nothing special about the food either, it’s just the standard type wetherspoon menu. The proprietor does show an appearance from time to time sitting on the same old stool at the bar giving you the feeling big moma is watching you.

The Royal Standard, in my opinion, the best pub in Belvedere. It’s quite small but very cosy with a warm welcoming décor which has the feel of a traditional pub. It’s quite a narrow building and on busy nights it can be a squeeze getting around the place but everyone is understanding and moves aside when needed without any fuss. I quite enjoy the food at The Royal Standard. It’s well priced and is served quite promptly. Food is only available at certain times during the day(12pm to 7:45pm weekdays, 12pm to 5:45pm at weekends). The other thing I like about this place is that they don’t blast music out as loud as possible and you are always able to hear yourself speak and think. The conservatory at the back is good for keeping the kids entertained as there is lots of space in which they can play. Also at the back there is a small garden which is hidden from the busy main road and is nice for relaxing and getting away from it all. Bar staff are chatty and pleasant which is a must have for any good pub and is one of the reasons why The Royal Standard has such loyal regulars. Parking is available outside on the street and in surrounding roads.
