I only needed a repeat prescription but still had to make an appointment. I requested a doctor, I got a nurse. So far, so annoying. Once I get there, I’m subjected to the usual hour-long wait in the waiting room. So far, so standard. Then I’m finally called in to see the nurse. She says my previous practice are rubbish because they seem to have switched between two different medications, depending on what was in stock. I’m like ‘Okay, so this nurse will give me whatever I need to be on then. Good.’ She tries to prescribe me one and it doesn’t work. So she then goes for the other one! What?! You just said the last place was rubbish for doing that exact thing! THEN she says she can’t actually give me a prescription at all because she’s a nurse and it needs to be signed for by the doctor. By this point, I’m a bit more than annoyed. I ASKED for a doctor when I called and told them it was for a repeat prescription. She tells me to come back at 3pm to pick it up. I go back at 4pm, it’s not ready yet. She says come back later that evening or on Monday and it’ll be ready. I think ‘I’ve already come back once today, I’ll leave it and try Monday’. I go back today, and it’s STILL not there. I’m still waiting and I have to try again tomorrow. That is FOUR trips to the doctor to get a simple prescription. FOUR. And there’s no guarantee they’ll even have it tomorrow so it could be even more. What a JOKE. Next time I’ll drive to Canterbury and pick it up at my old surgery. Judging from my experience here, it’d be a LOT quicker and less hassle. Pah.
