This is a great place for a leisurely day out. The reservoir itself is huge and is home to many species of waterfowl. At intervals along the pathway there are hides which enable you to look out over the water and watch the birds in their natural habitat. We didn’t manage to walk around the full circumference of the reservoir, we retreated to the visitor centre where we sat on the outside decking area and had lunch while taking in the view over the water. As it was a beautiful sunny day it made the experience very enjoyable.

I love this place, fab café and fantastic view across the reservoir. My daugher loves walking in the woods and finding the numbered trails. great if you have a buggy or wheelchair and free parking to boot. Fab place. You can either park in the first car park you come to if you are coming from billericay or chelmsford and then walk through the woods to the café or you can go further on and park in the café car park. There are picnic table with lovely views of the water and you could really enjoy a lunch here. They close the gates at 5 on the do and are open every day apart from Christmas day. This is well worth a visit, I would really recommend you come.
