Birkenhead now has a nice shiny new branch of Poundland which has opened in the former Peacocks shop in the Grange Precinct. I assume this will replace the old shop just up the road although at present that one’s still open as well. This new shop is everything the old one isn’t. Whereas the old shop is small, narrow and cramped this new shop is large, bright and with wide aisles so no more struggling to get around the shop if someone stops to pick something off a shelf. There’s also a decent CD and DVD section at the back. Ok, so the CDs are reconditioned second hand ones and most are of a certain vintage but there are some mixed in there which are well worth a quid of anyone’s money. Hopefully next time I visit Birkenhead I’ll have a bit more time to have a proper browse.
