The food here was great. It serves a combination of pizza, burgers and curries. The price’s are reasonable and the food is great. The service can be a bit slow but that is to be expected with the rush they have during lunch. West Midlands Police also like this joint as I was served just after a copper who bought a burger meal… So it must be cheap if a copper was buying… lol. Yeah a place you have to visit. Fantastic…

Located in High Street Kings Heath. I was a fan when It first opened years ago. Used to be busy all the time evenings on my way home. Not so much anymore. They have variety of food they do. Most people go for the £1.99 snack box offers. Nuggets + chips, pizza slice + chips, fish + chips and others can’t remember. My favourite is pizza slice + chips. Not a big fan of their fish, batter is bland and sometimes too oily. They also do good donner meat burger. The place is clean and specious. Plenty of seats and looks modern. They have other Big Johns obviously around City. I mostly go for food that I know is made freshly and frequently in every chippy, instead of the ones that been on display for hours and just warm up when you order. Pizzas are made throughout the day and chips ofcourse. So that’s my choice, fresh always. Also the pizza slice is always warm, soft and tasty. I’ve tried their cheese burger and wasn’t very good. I prefer gourmet burgers to these fast food frozen patties.

Big John’s arrived one day in the shop on the High Street where the big burger chain used to stand. I made a pact with myself not to go there-There are plenty other places to get chips and fried food nearby. I was also put off my the fact that Big John’s is a chain***-I’d seen one in nearby Highgate, and I prefer to support the staunch independence of other ‘fryers’, shall we call them, in the area… One day, I was returning on the bus from town and it had decided to thunder on the way. I was famished too. Getting off at my usual bus stop I noticed that I’d be able to get a meal at Big John’s without getting wet as the bus stop is right outside. I was greeted by the sight of workers behind the counter smiling, sharing a joke and even dancing a bit to Debaser by ‘The Pixies’. That’s quite a welcome! The range at Big John’s is huge: Fish and chips, kebabs, pizza, you name it they have it. There is also a Famous Five(now six) menu where you can pick up a stop gap snack for £1.99. I had fish and chips which at £2.99 for a big portion was good value for money, with a decent size of chunky, flaky cod. There is an emphasis of family eating here, and with friendly staff and a clean, large dining area, I’d recommend it as a great place to take yours. ***I was wrong about Big John’s being a chain, which is why I’m reviewing them here-Although there are a few Big John’s in Birmingham, they are owned by local businessmen who have become successful through good old-fashioned values of putting the customer first. This is reflected in their chosen title of ‘Neighbourhood Eateries’.

Big John’s are some what legendary in the vast and bewildering world of fast food in Birmingham, with several branches across the city. Why? There’s nothing particularly unusual about Big John’s selection of burgers, pizzas, kebabs, chicken and chips. In fact they have a very similar menu to many of the other fast food outlets in the city. No, the reason Big Johns have such success is by being that little bit better than everyone else. The food is definitely nicer than what you may find in many other similar establishments, with a little less grease and better quality ingredients used, though it would definitely be stretching the truth to call the food healthy. There’s a constant rotation of extremely well priced offers, and the selection is comprehensive. However, I am giving a three star review here because however efficient and well priced it maybe, Big Johns does little for my imagination, nor does it offer anything unusual. in conclusion, a solid buisness with plenty to be proud of.

Big John’s in Kings Heath now lies where a McDonalds once lay. Big John’s have a few restaurants in Birmingham, one has a drive thru. It is clear that Big John’s are using the McDonalds model of fast food service. The difference between Big John’s is in the taste of the food. I wouldn’t recommend Big John’s to a health conscious vegan, but I would to most of my mates that are quite content with their love handles. Big John’s does a great pizza at cheap prices, they also offer delivery. They also do a wide range in Tikka kebabs, doner kebabs and meat filled wraps. All of this comes with a variety of sauces. Chili, Yogurt, Garlic Mayo are my favourites. The chili strength in the sauce is very hot a 7 on a scale of 10, 10 being hottest. I didn’t enjoy the burgers, they were not fresh enough. I prefer a nice juicy burger and not one that tastes like rubber. But all in all Big John’s is a credit to kebab shops and is the future of the industry.
