This is a nice restaurant just off Broad street in downtown Birmingham England. Its in a nice area of fancier restaurants, a short walk from Deutsche Bank and Costa. It has a higher end feel and is a bit cozy. This would be a nice place for a romantic date with a spouse or significant other. The food quality was pretty good. We had a little of everything between the 4 of us so we covered the menu well. Three of us are American and one person from Belgium. All liked the food. The restaurant appears to be owned by Italians or has allot of staff from Italy. We had a few bottles of wine and they have a decent selection. I have eaten in Italy different times and some dishes were comparable, some were not. The score is a 3.6 rounded to 4. We had some issues communicating and the food was pretty good but not great. It is a modern and stylish atmosphere. Like all restaurants in this area, be prepared to spend, this is not the Shakespeare… its finer dining. Wonderful to see Birmingham growing and improving with every trip. Another bank headquarters is coming from Scotland so the restaurant business will grow. Worth a try but there are many other places in the area.

Fantastic Italian food and a very nice wine list. I ordered the lamb which was fantastic however the fish that my friends ordered was stellar — especially the monkfish. The service was seamless and the ambiance classic.

this and bank are the two most expensive restaurants in brindley place i think and i prefer bank over this for sure. i think that this place is really overrated as an expensive italian restaurant. it’s just too much money for what it is. the menu is really extensive though with some nice options, i had pasta to start(love that they do the traditional small portion as a starter, like they do in italy) and then veal with capers for main which had a nice flavor

Really disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I visited here recently and thought the the prices were hugely overinflated for the food on offer. The staff were very pleasant but the prices being charged were not attentive enough. The food itself was very nice but not exceptional. £16 + for a plate of pasta is extortionate. We will not be visiting this Italian again, we will go back to our favourite Italian, Il Michael Angelo that serves exquisite food for an excellent price with superb service.

my favourite restaurant. nothing on the menu is bad. i have taken many people there who have all ordered different things and all been very satisfied with their food. service has deteriorated slightly in that the waiter used to put the napkin on my lap for me, and now no longer does this. hence i have knocked off a star for this. i dont think i should do it for myself, because i am a lady. prices extremely reasonable for the big portion sizes and usually people cant get through more than two courses. rather nice atmosphere, i like the waterfall inside and the restaurant is impeccably clean.

Went to this restaurant following recommendation from a work colleague. Went at lunchtime to book an outside table for the evening given the weather was fantastic and sunny. Booked table and walked out of restaurant back to office. Was followed by another waitress who then advised me it would not be possible to book an outside table as it was«against company policy». I asked why only to be advised this was due to the«weather». I questioned what I was being told only to be re-advised the table would not be booked. Waitress then added insult to matter by saying«Is that OK.». To which I replied No and that I would not be dining there later. What a joke. Did try to phone restaurant in afternoon to complain to manager. Attempted phone number several times, but the phone was never answered. I ended up at a another restaurant close to this place, couldn’t help notice they had no customers — guess hat sums the place up.

A nice restaurant/café offering well prepared Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. The prices aren’t bad for the size of the options, a 2 course will stretch your wallet to £12.95 and a children’s option at only £7.95. Eating here is very relaxing, and I would recommend sitting outside if you can, next to the square. It does get busy here in the weeknights, evenings and weekends, so if you can pre-book, it would be advised so your not disappointed. Italian speaking staff give this place a little bonus and gift cards are available too.

My bank balance doesn’t usually allow me to indulge at restaurants in the Brindley Place area, so I was even luckier to be taken by a local PR firm director as a treat for winning the Birmingham City University, student award for my work in Public Relations. I knew I was in for a treat, as soon as I saw how ‘top-notch’ the restaurant looked inside. To be fair I was not expecting any less for such an establishment, especially due to its location and the other restaurants’ and bars which surround the area are just as luxurious. As soon as we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted, ushered to our seats and our drinks order was immediately taken. The waitress assigned to our table looked after us all the time we where there and made sure we had everything we needed. I was pleasantly surprised though at the lunch menu price tag. I was definitely expecting it to be much more than it was, but I guess I wasn’t paying so everything looked reasonable in price to me. We didn’t wait too long for our starters and generally the rest of the food order. Just a tip; the menu is actually easy to read :) Some restaurants’ make their menu’s so difficult to understand; even those who consider themselves educated, become bemused by such ‘menu jargon’(that’s what I like to call it!). It’s not pleasant on a date either if you can’t read the menu but Cielo is just the right place for a date, especially if you are looking to make a big impression. The food is exquisite and the food comes well presented. I had the; supreme of cod, with sliced chorizo, borlotti beans and spicy pomadoro sauce; I could have done with a bigger portion but hey… let’s not be greedy now. If you are a big fan of fish or steak– this is the place. The steak dishes look delicious too; I just happened to peer over at the next table’s food. Overall, my experience at Cielo restaurant was a great one and would recommend it to those wanting to get a taste of what Brindley Place restaurants have to offer.

Cielo was a great surprise. I feel that is performs very well in every area. I visited this restaurant with work colleagues on an event organised by suppliers, so had no idea what to expect. When we entered, we were greeted by friendly staff. Some of my colleagues had cocktails that were by all accounts very well mixed and deliciously delicious. When everybody was finally present, we ordered. I went for the Beef Carpaccio to start; followed by tagliatelle with king prawns, scallops and shrimp in a sambuca sauce. I enjoyed the Beef Carpaccio, but feel that it lacked quantity and was pretty stringy in places. Not really what you would expect for the heavy price tag. My main course was a delight though. It was excellent — and not as I feared too sambucafied in flavour. The flavours all blended exquisitely and the dish seemed to never end. I was still battling when the other 8 people on the table were done with their steaks. As a point of note, I did feel a brief pang of food envy when I saw how beautifully their fillet steaks were cooked. The wine choice was the South African red. All of those present seemed to enjoy a great deal. It really complimented the food well. A reasonably priced bottle of plonk. I even went for dessert, which is rare for me. Tiramipu heaven indeed. I do enjoy a tiramisu but this one was too good and too much. It sounds like a strange gripe, but it was so delicious and so rich that it was a struggle to finish the large portion provided. I am not moaning too loud though.

Really and I mean really strong smell of fish when we arrived. Apart from that very nice inside, nice décor and a good atmosphere. I had Antipasti as a starter which was good, a few of my friends were not so impressed with their choices. Eg three scallops served with a piece of pancetta that looked like a piece of bacon rather than the real thing. Unusually for me I had pasta for main, I usually opt for something else as pasta is fairly too cook yourself. Anyway, for the price it was very unimpressive. One of my friends had veal which was like leather. To be fair though they waived the charge on this. Way too expensive for what was on offer I’m afraid. I’ve had much better in other parts of the UK for far less cash.

I loved this place. It is expensive but classy. I had their crab linguine and would return just for this exquisite dish. The portions are not massive and you do have to buy sides as well. It gets very busy and we were very lucky to get in on speck! Worth a look!

Working here in Birmingham is absolutely wonderful as there is lots to do in the form of Theatres and museums and then you always have the option of going shopping in the city which believe me is great and there a lot of shops here from Primark to Harvey Nichols. What Birmingham really excels in though is eating out establishments and the other day I tried a place I had never been before Cielo which I was so impressed with I thought I would let you all know how great it is. - What is Cielo? Cielo is an Italian restaurant specialising in fine food and drinks in a relaxing, comfortable and romantic atmosphere. - Where can you find Cielo? Cielo is based right in the centre of Birmingham in Brindley Place, the address is as follows; 6 Oozels Square, Brindley Place, Birmingham, B12JB. 01216326882 - The Actual Restaurant: The first thing I thought when I looked at the restaurant from the outside was how nice it looked. They have signs outside with the restaurant name and stating that it is an Italian /Med cuisine restaurant. These signs lit up in bright blue when it got a bit dark outside. There are tables situated outside but because it was quite cold we did not really fancy it but the addition of soft lights on the tables did make it look extremely cosy. Into the restaurant and I was amazed how posh it looked in there. Immediately on your right is the bar and I began to stare at all of the glasses they had hanging upside down from the bar and hoping that none of them fell off. There is a seating area where you can go to look at the menus and have a drink if you are waiting for a table and the seats were like suede so they were very comfortable. When we first entered the restaurant it was the middle of the day so it was light inside but as the afternoon went on the lights got softer creating a very ambient atmosphere. The main restaurant boasts the nicest looking tables I have seen and because it was virtually empty when we entered I could have a good look. The tables are a very dark wood and the chairs are suede again with wooden backs so you can sit up properly. They are already set for people to come and eat so you have your cutlery and glasses ready. We were shown to a round table which was great because there were five of us so we could all see and hear each other well. Over on one wall is a great water feature that looks like the wall is a huge fountain and there were stones in the bottom. Over the ceiling are spotlights and they are great and add to the romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Cielo does play music but it is not too loud and you can hear it well only if you listen for it. The type of music it played was things like the theme from Twin Peaks so relaxing music. The final thing to say is the whole place is extremely clean and there was not one problem I could see. - Food and Drink: First let’s get to the drinks because they are less interesting than the food. Soft drinks were average and basically what you get everywhere, the wine we had was gorgeous which was about £15 but I am not sure what it was. They had a great choice of all drinks including spirits, cocktails(the Pina Colada was fantastic) and champagne. I think that there is something for everybody and we all had Tia Maria coffees afterwards which were absolutely gorgeous and tasted really smooth. Now let’s get to the food which was fantastic. For starters they have things like mushrooms, mussels, cured meats and melon which were of a great size portion, just enough to keep you going till your next course but not too much so you are full. I had King Prawns in white wine and garlic butter sauce and they were so moresome. There were six in total and I got very messy as I picked at them with my fingers to get the edible bit out but the waiters bought me extra serviettes and water so I could clean myself up. Next time though I am going to go for the mushrooms as they looked delicious and there were so many different types on a salad bed. The main courses have choices from meat, fish and pasta and there will definitely be something for everybody. I went for Halibut in a white wine sauce which was presented so well and tasted like something you could only wish for it was that good. My friend had a Fillet steak with some chips which looked great and then another person had these huge pasta tubes which were filled with Salmon and tomatoes which looked delicious. On the dessert menu I went for one of my favourites which was crème brulee and it came in a small pot with some strawberries and some hardened caramel which me being a sweet tooth I appreciated a lot. There was also a brandy snap filled with melon sorbet which looked lovely and then the classic tiramisu which my friend had and I sort of wish I had had. The thing that impressed me the most with the food at Cielo was the way in which it was presented as it was brilliant and I think they take a lot of care with your food to

Cielo did not live up to expectations as the price is far too high for average food. however the lunch time specials are well worth visiting for.
